I think the reason we are sticking with RM is because nobody wants the job. I'm usually wrong but I don't think anybody want to work for the idiots in charge. They got a bad reputation at Brentford which has been made worse with us. RM should be sacked. He's probably frustrated that he hasn't been sacked but dumb and dumber can't get anyone to replace him.
I’d take Rafa but I can’t see him keeping us up (even in the unlikely event he took the job) so we’d be back to square one in the summer and looking for another new manager.
I don’t buy this. Free hit in the PL, nobody expects us to stay up, if we go down it’s experience if we stay up they’re a hero. It’s not really a relegation on their CV, the damage has been done.
We wouldn’t. I’m pretty sure even SR aren’t stupid enough not to say to any prospective manager that they’d be expected to lead a promotion push next season. And I wouldn’t want a manager who wasn’t bright enough to realise that’s what was exceptionally likely to be required.
Does he still live in Liverpool? Definitely remember hearing that geography limited him to certain clubs previously, depends how desperate he is and he’d need to be hugely to take the job
https://www.squawka.com/en/worst-win-rates-managers-premier-league/?amp Bozo well in with this lot. Currently running at 6.7% win rate.
Red and white stripes, crap managers, we are the Southern Sunderland, because they seem to recruit a lot of dross too.
Possibly the most damning article I've read on our dear leader yet. It seems that journalists (not you Alfie) can actually write articles about just how bad we are. https://www.football365.com/news/southampton-deluded-arrogance-relegation-opinion
Whilst we’re all down on the club, it’s still a great job and opportunity for plenty of decent coaches. I would be tempted by Steve Cooper at this point, has premier league experience, worked with big squads and secured promotion from the championship. Has got more PL points that RM this season.
Its still an alright opportunity for an ambitious decent quality Championship manager. Only pressure is to improve the form from RM but with no expectation of survival, can get some PL experience and then will have hopefully a decent quality squad for the Championship next season, with a view to having their own proper shot at the PL if they can get us back up. Just stopping the short passing at the back is a guaranteed increase in points (not enough to keep us up, but that ship has sailed), can't see that the new manager would have to be a tactical genius to see that. No one who has any intention of remaining in the PL next season or is an established PL manager will look twice at us though.
That is the most frustrating part of this. RM could save his job by just stopping the pissing about with the ball 10ft from the goal line. It is such a simple solution.
That’s not his mindset though. He’s not trying to save his job. He doesn’t even appear to think his job should be under scrutiny. He just wants us to play football the ‘right way’. We’d be much more competitive among the strugglers if we did stop playing our only take risks in our own half football. But I’m not convinced we have enough goals in our team anyway.
I'd take anyone that doesn't insist on giving the oppo a head start by playing suicide football. It can be a caretaker for the rest of the season if that's all we can get and I don't think that the squad is as bad as 5 points from 15 games with a different approach.
