Oxford have won one, drawn one, and lost four in their last six, including a 2-6 thrashing by Boro and a 3-0 loss to Sheffield United. The big advantage for Oxford is that their last game was ten days ago, as their match on Saturday was postponed due to the storm. The decision was made early enough that they probably didn't travel, so had a weekend off to rest. We, on the other hand, spent our weekend thrashing Norwich. The most encouraging part for me was that at half-time I was concerned they'd come out and score to make it a nervy second half, but we killed the game off in the 49th minute and didn't concede. Marvellous to see, and more of the same will see us climb comfortably to mid table very quickly. We are, however, still only a point outside the drop zone, so can't rest on our laurels...if a few results go against us we could be right back in the sticky stuff. Here's hoping for another rocking night at Loftus Road, and that as more players begin to return to first team action, we'll start going from strength to strength. Team news and manager comments to go up asap, and I'm sure I'm missing some players who have played for both...I reckon there are a few obvious ones I have left off. Enjoy if you are making it to Loftus Road, and as always... ...COME ON YOU SUPER HOOPSA!!!
Cheers Dave Rob Dickie Jeremy Charles Think we loaned Shodipo to them David Bardsley Mark Stein Peter Hucker Dragging myself down for this one
Theres only one to forget and I'm still not over it. I occassionally get the pleasure of walking within Wembley Stadium. There is a photo of the Milk Cup final, the first time I saw it my stomach turned before my brain recognised it. i genuinely may combust on Wednesday.
Forgot the 1986 game would evoke such strong and sad emotions...my bad...can't think why, I can't remember that match so it doesn't upset me as much.
The game in 1967 was the unique one where we were the holders of the League Cup, Rodney wasn't playing (broken leg as I recall) and Alan Wilks, who always filled in when he was injured, scored all 5 goals that night. He had some memorable moments. Can still remember him scoring within 12 seconds of his coming on at Highbury. MOM was Mike Kelly in goal though who played .......................well like all visiting goalies to Loftus Road so far this season except for Gunn. ie the game of his life. Is there any footage of either game lurking in the archives somewhere?
Injury Update ... Following our 3-0 home victory against Norwich City, the club would like to provide supporters with an update on our injured players and their progressions back to fitness. We are delighted to confirm Ilias Chair, Michael Frey and Jake-Clarke Salter are recovering well from their respective injuries and will return to matchday squads before the festive period. Jack Colback continues to work through the pitch-based phase of his rehabilitation plan following the first surgery of his professional career, and is expected to return soon. Kader Dembele continues to make good progress during the early phase of his rehabilitation following his successful knee surgery. Unfortunately, Žan Celar faces a period of time on the sidelines following a hamstring injury sustained against the Canaries. The Performance Services department are currently working through early medical processes to ensure he is on the correct rehabilitation path and a further update on his timelines will be provided in due course. Kenneth Paal came off at half-time on Saturday due to a feeling of tightness. The defender is anticipated to be available for selection this week. Head of Performance Services Michael Main said: “The Championship is a challenging and physically demanding league in which all clubs go through higher injury periods at different times. “November has been a particularly challenging period for us. Despite that, the team’s results have been positive, taking our greatest number of points in a single month so far this campaign. “This is a credit to the players, Martí and all the performance and coaching staff who have worked through this period positively together.”
So likely line up Nardi Dunne, Cook, Morrison, Ashby Varane, Field, Madsen Smyth, Kolli, Saito Only unforced change Field for Morgan....
Wonder if he might rest Morrison and play Field (or Fox, perish the thought) at the back given Morrison seemingly can’t play full games at the moment and it’s a quick turnaround for Bristol Robins.
Urgh. This sounds so corporate. I work on the tools on building sites, whenever management open with something like this it's bad news
Its games like this, against non descript team like Oxford, that really concern me. Much rather playing Sheffield United away.
