Another away game against a team struggling at the bottom end of the league.
We certainly need a better performance than our last game at QPR.
No new injuries to date, I expect to see Cordoba starting, and Fisher playing in his favoured position.

Game is live on Sky + HD.

    Squad update
    **UPDATE**

I'm not sure whether it was a factor in the previous game and our lack of combativeness, but I believe we had 3 or 4 players that were 1 yellow card away from a ban, with the end of that game we now see the yellow card limit extended to 10 games, meaning those players are now 6 yellows away from that ban.

McLean - OUT - FA charge following the QPR game sees him banned for 4 matches.

Forsyth – OUT - knee - 2-3 more weeks out, pictured back on grass today
Sargent - OUT - Had surgery – 4-5 more weeks out, pictured can in grass today
Gibbs - OUT - 10 weeks with a reoccurrence of the hamstring issue that took him out from the start of the season

The key for me is the response from the players at Portsmouth.

"Norwich are winless in 12 midweek (Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday) away league outings (D5 L7) since a 2-1 win at Birmingham City in August 2022." (BBC)

Just to add some salt to our wounds, Josh Murphy is now Pompey's highest rated player on WhoScored. Yet another ACN type threat.

    Statement form the club website:

The Football Association have released the following statement in relation to a charge against Kenny McLean following our fixture against QPR:

An independent Regulatory Commission has suspended Norwich City’s Kenny McLean for four matches following violent conduct in their EFL Championship match against Queens Park Rangers on Saturday, December 7.

The midfielder’s behaviour during the 24th minute of the game wasn’t seen by the match officials at the time, but it was caught on camera, and The FA subsequently alleged that it constitutes violent conduct.

Kenny McLean denied this charge against him and submitted that the automatic penalty is excessive if found proven. The independent Regulatory Commission found it to be proven and imposed his sanction following a hearing. Its written reasons will be published in due course.

The sanction is four matches rather than three as it is Kenny McLean’s second dismissal this season.

Never mind the fact that Sainz was left with a bloodied nose and nothing was done about it

That is absolutely ridiculous. Football is becoming a total farce.

The extra game is because he has already had a red card his season

I certainly don't agree with this decision by the FA, but am I the only one on here who cannot understand Kenny's attitude recently.
Always a committed player, but he seems to be far more aggressive than he used to be.

Essentially our team captain now and maybe an effect that leadership has had on him. He has improved as a player as well
Sorry I thought you were asking a question CS

Sorry, but he has no mitigation for that. He's well aware of where the QPR player is, and where he's heading towards the side-line. Kenny makes no attempt to run to shadow the player down the side and resorts to 'clothes lining' him. Quite frankly his on pitch behaviour has been pathetic this season whether something is going on behind the scenes or at home, no idea, but this is not the player of the previous couple of seasons.

I can see why you read it that way. But still, a three game suspension for something that, as you, say, happens every game?

I think we have different views on this, Kenny checks where the player is and then ‘blocks’ him to shield away from the ball, very different from a deliberate elbow in my opinion.
IMO if he has looked to elbow him he would leave the scene sharpish
