    Wow, this is amazing news! Although the pessimist in me thinks back to the Carroll saga, and that this could be Cashley's way of squeezing 25m+ out of Man U or Chelsea... But I hope for the love of God that I'm wrong!

    If this is true at least we're not going to get robbed. The only thing about the Carroll saga that was positive was the stupidly high price and sell on clause. If Titoe is to be sold we can pretty much demand whatever we want with this contract.

    Agree totally with this. Of course there's still a chance he could leave, but at this stage in the season this is the best the club could do and gives a strong sign of their intentions with regards to keeping our best players and paying them suitably. Frankly, Ashley can do no more at this point!

    We have to accept that Carroll went because he asked to go - if Ashley and co wanted him out they'd have had someone else lined up or would have taken the £35million when it was originally offered to give themselves time to find a replacement. If Man U or whoever come in for Tiote in the summer with a crazy figure and Tiote sees the £££ then the club have little option - but this signing makes me feel mega optimistic about the clubs' intentions, and Tiote's. I'm over the moon. It's a great signal to the likes of Enrique/Barton too, who are (wisely) waiting until we're safe to talk contracts.

    As others have said, great news whether we can keep him or have to sell him...Ashley looks as if he is learning his lessons (i.e. Carroll) and whatever his motivation, this can only be positive for the club!

    i dont know why people are excited over this, yes its good news him signing a new contract but carroll signed one just 6 months ago and ****ed off a few weeks back.

    he improves/impress over this season and picks up where he left off next season clubs will be in for him, and like proved with carroll a good amount of money shown and he will be gone.

    its funny as at fc twente he hardly played, bad news for them. haha

    Yeeee .... haaaaa!!

    Was in a news vaccuum all morning and only found out half an hour ago when I heard it on the radio in the supermarket. Jumped up and down a danced a little jig like I was some sort of acid tripping morris dancer.

    The shelf stacker and another customer just looked at me like is was mental and shuffled off to a safe distance.

    Tiote you beautiful midfield dynamo you!!! :)
