Such a frustrating game. I think Caicedo was a lucky boy to not have been off in the first half and that obviously changes the game. There were also a couple of chances for Sonny that you really expect him to get on target. With that said, Forster made some really good saves throughout. The second penalty by Sarr…such a stupid, clumsy challenge. You can’t be making those. In isolation it’s far from the most gut wrenching defeat we’ve had, even though I despise seeing Chelsea celebrating, ever. But I think it throws into stark isolation some big issues, that become even more obvious when you look at what Maresca is doing at Chelsea. It just looks so much more balanced. The balance between the midfield and FBs remains the core issue for us and I don’t know whether everyone’s worked out how to counter Ange’s signature tactic, if it’s a player profile issue, or a bit of both. But it isn’t working - partly also because we don’t really have an ideal player to play that lone 6 role consistently. It’s frustrating to see Cole Palmer being one of the best players in the league (and wow, some of his footwork today) when we have also spent big on one of the most promising young English players around and just don’t play him in his position. That’s obviously partly out of necessity but we’re never gonna see Gray develop like that if this continues. Ange has earned the right to see out the season but it’s beginning to feel like we’re banging our heads against a wall a bit here. The injuries don’t help and can’t be entirely placed at his door, and while he claims to own the recruitment decisions, I do think there is an element of that which is out of his hands too. But while his resilience is one of the things I admire about Ange, it may also be his undoing.
Ipswich are much better we are though. And we play hundreds of passes in our own box which will be easy pickings for your press. We're so bad our last two opponents have treated us like a minnow in a cup game and rested half their team That said if we bin Martin tomorrow we might give it a good go.
1. There's bad luck and there's stupidity. There's calculated risks and there's stupidity... The decision to start Romero and VDV was stupidity. No hindsight needed. 2. When the cheapest tickets for category A matches are £71 and the are getting rid of OAP concessions then match going fans are gonna start getting vocally angry rather than being patient when things are so inconsistent. 3. The club does not have a history of giving managers time to build unless there has been an instant and huge improvement (Jol, Redknapp and Pochettino). These three things mean an announcement thanking Ange is on it's way imo. Unfortunately for Ange, the performances post City away have been ugly and his subs, tactics and selections have given Levy an excuse
If Southgate was named our manager the fans would eat him alive. There's no way he'd be accepted IMHO.
I'm sorry. I don't mean it as personal dig against him. I'm just bloody nervous that he'll need replacing much sooner than we all think. We lost Kane without making any attempt to replace him and so far our hopes for a succession plan for Son rest on Mikey Moore's young shoulders. It's a huge concern.
since Ange wont change we need the best in every position it seems and that is not happening therefore this system will not be bringing us on field success we all know how this ends
probably but we know the next man won’t do anything either its someone else that really needs replacing
Not a bean, Levy, Lange and Munn sign the players, Ange won`t say no because anybody is better than nobody.
It’s not the results as such that is worrying. It’s his management style and decisions that are poor. I think bringing Romero and VdV back to quickly might be the final straw. He should have made changes early in the second half. It was inevitable what was coming and by the time he finally made some changes, it was too little and too late.
Correct. When it was far too late to matter. You need your captain and supposedly best player to dig you out of trouble when the game needs changing, not 7 mins into added time. The miss when Chelsea got their offside trap confused was that game changing moment, and he fluffed it.
First time in 23 years we've been 2 goals up at home and gone on to lose. Levy should put that in the trophy room.
hes certainly lost his turbo booster as far as I’m concerned and with that being his real special power as demonstrated through the years, he probably realises this and his confidence is probably at a low too. It is what it is…age always catches up pretty much all of a sudden with players who’s special power has always been pace.
Pointless sacking him. Especially at this stage of the season when we’ve got games coming every few days so no chance of getting anyone in. We’ll finish between 5th and 7th and hopefully win a trophy. That’s a good season and then we continue to build.
