Not even sure if Romero and van de Ven starting is a good thing or not. Can’t imagine either’s anywhere near full fitness, especially van de Ven… This is screaming torn hamstring and out for 2-3 months
This game last year was when the bubble burst , this year we have no bubble as such , hope we can keep Romero and VDV on the pitch today
It’s so predictable! I really don’t know whether I want to put myself through the pain of this match. I haven’t had a dread like this about a game for a long time and that’s despite how poor we have been lately. I’d bite your hand off for a draw right now.
This isn't the first time we've rushed players back from injury. Did it to Bentancur last season, Maddison later on, Udogie at the start of this season, Son after that and now Micky. It's a huge concern.
I'd say if this happens, it has to be the end for Ange (and our entire medical staff). There's mistakes and then there's rank negligence.

Unless Ange was playing mind games in previous interviews and VDV was closer to fitness than people thought. Surely he wouldn’t start him if he wasn’t ready? Would he?
Maddison just can't nail down a place in the starting line up. I don't think the system suits him at all, but overall he's been a very underwhelming signing. Wouldn't give two hoots if we looked to shift him in the summer. Pretty obvious in hindsight why no big club ever looked at him seriously.
Were they definitely back before being fully fit? I know players are rusty when out for a while but that’s different to being brought back while still injured. I know they’re short at the back but to bring both back if they’re not fit would be scandalous
Yeah it feels like a potential season defining moment here. Certainly hope he’s called it right. A bad loss/ bad direct performance from one or both/ injury/ mix of all will look like a horrific piece of management. It feels like a “no **** Sherlock line” but we have to win and do so unscathed now.
He was definitely in training a couple of weeks ago, as he was seen in training galleries Interesting that the club didn't make a big thing about it
You still expect to see a strongest XI player returned to full fitness to have some competitive time as a sub at least.
Bentancur turned up out of absolutely nowhere this time last year having rumoured to still be a month away from fitness. Udogie started at Leicester despite missing the whole of pre season. Romero played against Ipswich despite clearly not been fully fit. Vicario played on for an hour with a broken ankle. It's hardly a good track record.
