Surely they wanted to stay in the Prem. This is the most frustrating thing for me. As much as it is bloated and up it's own arse, if you get there, try to stay in there! It just seems to have become a vanity project for Russ, and surely the board can't tolerate that.
The guy that posted that constantly post nonsense. He is not "ITK" at all. Still hoping it's true tho
Here's the truth - I used to work with him for while, he was okay and we were the two only Saints supporters for miles around. He always gave the vibe of being a tough-guy football supporter who secretly liked fighting. I never really made mates with him. I can't even remember his name now but he did tell me his Saints Web alias. Eventually I found here and although I have a log-on there I hardly use the place now. He didn't ever say he had 'contacts' - ever. If he did I'm sure he would have let me know immediately.
It’s unbelievable that he’s still here. And that the club have said nothing. Absolute insult to all the fans imo
I’m choosing to believe Blackmore’s theory that Russell is and has been a sitting duck for a new manager who wouldn’t have wanted to start with Liverpool, Chelsea and Aston Villa. I need the hope
People who are still supporting Martin, blaming it mainly on SR with the transfer business etc. I think SR have a massive amount of blame on them but people forget that RM was a massive part of the transfer dealings etc this summer as he became part of the team over seeing what Wilcox was as in charge of last season. He was signing off on players and should definitely realise by now that they cannot play the way he wants them to, so it’s his job and not SR’s to adapt and play tactically different to suit said players. SR’s job is to look after Southampton Footbal club today and moving forward. Also were Southampton, newly promoted, so you’re never going to get all the players you would like. It’s been a bit of cat and mouse between which one of them realise they’ve made the mistake first. I personally hold no hope of neither admitting it.
Yup, but we are where we are 15 games in with the players we got in. Once the transfer window shuts it’s RM’s responsibility to get the best out of the team, which he isn’t.
Sod that. I’m looking forward to Sunday, assuming he’s still here & will give him ****ing loads of ****.
I know what you mean. I went to the Chelsea game on Wednesday with no actual hope or anticipation of anything else but a defeat. Once we got our 9th assist for the opposing team this season, the tinge of hope drained away. Even when we scored, for the first time in many many years I didn’t really celebrate that much as we all know what the final outcome was to be. It’s crap feeling like that, going to watch the team you have supported and loved for so many years, but this is what Russ Ball has bought us to. We all know now that every single game we give up clear chances of which 10 of them have turned into goals against. Didn’t think I’d fill like this again after the short experience of Jones’ reign, but here I am again.
No doubt clubs sometimes do this for the odd game, but I can't see them delaying it by 4 (including Brighton) maybe 5 (including Spurs) fixtures. I think the board are so keen to "learn from their mistake" of having 3 managers in 1 season, that they have decided to be stubborn and not change anything until January.
I think people should do what they want tbh. Loads of stick live on TV would have more impact than a few hundred/thousand not turning up though imo.
But you'll never get anywhere enough people not going. Struggling football club has declining attendances is hardly headline news.
