They'll be alot of questions asked if nothing is spent in Jan when we are in so much of a good chance for promotion. The whole point in selling your best player is to use the money to become stronger and bring in a couple of additions that actually cost money, and are not on the cheap or free. 1 step back to take 2 forward.
I get your point, I don't care how much we spend in January as long we strengthen for the immediate. I wouldn't mind buying an exciting fullback to push Hume but anyone else who comes in has to be able to hit the ground running imo I'd like a real exciting loan signing, Morton from Liverpool or Carvalho from Brentford would be my picks
Obviously getting the right players for the right amount is the priority. But I really hope we can bring those players in closer to 1st January than 31st January. I think the likelihood however is nothing happens until the final few days.
I think RLB will want to look at Samed, Aleksic, Poveda and Abdoulahi in match day situations before assessing his options, so I'm not expecting much activity early in the window, unless it's a full back or one for the future.
Agreed, nothing will likely happen until the last week of the window. Hoping we get 1 in the 1st half of the window and then maybe 2 more 2nd half of window I'd like CM - this will all depend on Sameh as can't see us going for another CM if he looks good RM (or versatile forward) RB - this is more for the future so doesn't have to be someone who can hit the ground running
Considering the accounts say we are running at a loss (I'm not an accountant, but that is what is relayed back to us as a fact) We have 3 million tied up for Alecksic, we have 3 million tied up in the striker lad who is injured who I can't even think of his name. We have a deal in place for Wilson in the region of 3.5 million and then we have the loan fees for Wilson (Included in any future deal I am guessing) the loan deal for Samad who hasn't played, the signing on fee for Poveda who was on a free , and also the improved deals we have agreed with many of our 1st teamers.........How much do you think is left?
Haven’t really thought about it until now but RLB will know Samed from his first season managing Lorients first team, which was the season Samed had a stormer and finished 2nd with Lens whilst making team of the season. Makes me wonder if he had an input in us signing him. Encouraging that the gaffer is assisting with transfers though maybe an adaptation to the model we’ve seen currently? I know Dack was brought in but previous managers have been very vocal about being frustrated by transfers.
Think last season we posted a loss because Stewart’s fee wasn’t included, that will be in this years numbers along with Clarkes fee. Those two together will put us in the black I believe but probably not by much!
I’m sure Hemir was the top scorer for benfica in that league. Don’t think it’s a good place for evidence haha
Talking of Hemir, he hasn't pulled up any trees with the Juventus B team. He started the season on the bench. Then they gave him a five-game run. But then for the last two months it's been mainly the bench.
IMO I think we will go after one of 3 forwards we were linked with at the end of the Summer transfer window - Mendy, Orban or Bamba (if my memory is correct). I think he will be looking for someone "different" that can "bully" centre halves, which I don't think we have at the moment.
We need someone who can play in Rigg’s no10/cm role ideally one who could also play wide right if Poveda isn’t going to contribute I’d be looking for a powerful forward too as an option. Especially if teams are gonna sit so deep against us
Mendy has 7 goals and 1 assist in 12. Bamba 2 goals 2 assists in 9. Orban has 2 in 3 games, ass use he has been injured, but Lyon have Lacazette and that quality Georgian kid ahead of him as well. On that, Mendy is doing great, considering he ****ed his pre season too. He seems the most true scorer of the 3.
I'd settle for Aleksic there personally, by Jan he will have played a few more times and will be ready to deputise. If Samed isn't up for it, I'd go and get a cdm type, loan a right winger and sign a young right back.
You not fancy young Crompton? Not 100% sure how his loan spell is going but think he could be a great option as he matures, plus I have to hope Huggins gets back fit
Young lad at Chelsea could be a shout Casadei not getting a look in there because they have 10 million players, was canny on loan at reading and Leicester
Crompton won't play above L1 level imo, he looks OK but I'll be shocked if he plays regularly at championship in his career - hope he proves me wrong but I don't see him as a Championship RB in the future
Any reason for that? He has a lovely first touch and great awareness despite playing a fair bit out of position at left or right back for the u21's
