List of things we must do to improve: 1 - stop gifting goals away, not sure how you get this into the players heads that it’s unacceptable bar fining them for it now. For me it’s mental how many times in the last few games we have literally, and under no pressure, simply passed the ball to the opposition, for them to waltz directly up to our box and score. 2 - repeat 1 until the end of the season. End of list
If he blames players he'll lose the dressing room If they all want him gone the club will pull the trigger
He's got a couple of what should be easy games at home now, so he's either going to buy himself a stay of execution or the end is upon him.
The players need some frank words. The whole team need a rocket firing up their arses. Get them in front of fans and let rip.
Just replace the manager and his coaching staff.. it's one of the few requirements of their job putting all the bullshit aside. You can't get in a situation where you're crediting a manager for wins and blaming the players when they don't win. Under previous managers even wins saw the manager getting **** for not being entertaining! .. it's either the managers or not at all under any circumstances.
I count 2 in Hall and Tonali that are far from great signings. Way too soon to count Tino as one too. Botmans injury means jury is out as he was ****ing **** last year.
Well seeing as Mitchell is in charge of signings, there's no reason for them to be 'vanilla'. We just need the ability - and willingness - to actually spend big after a couple of disappointing transfer windows. We need at least 2 new first team starters inbound.
Botman was nowhere near fit for the handful of games he played last season. Far from great? Nowhere near awful though which is what I suggested
Bottom line is last summers transfer window, last winter transfer window and summer transfer window past, have left Howe with an aging squad with a number of players on the slide. I'd include Pope, Schar, Burn, Longstaff, Trippier, Joelinton, Miggy, Wilson amongst these. We've failed to replace the deliveries Trippier used to make, We've failed to replace the goals that Miggy scored in his purple patch. We seem completely unable to play both Bruno and Tonali at the same time or Gordon and Barnes at the same time. The defensive line lacks a huge amount of pace and NIck Pope is about as comfortable on the ball with his feet as a 4 year old attending a grassroots training session for the first time. The midfield is far too grouped together at time with no clear positional instruction. Joelinton seems to roam everywhere, Bruno hangs back but isn't the best at tackling or shooting and Longstaff roams everywhere whilst not appearing to do anything in particular. We have Gordon playing right wing as often as left wing which isn't allowing him any consistency, and teams seem to have sussed out that best way of trying to deal with Isak is by showing him out wide. There's very little overlapping with the full backs, and the amount of times we have the ball in what should be considered a dangerous position but have nobody near the 6 yard box is alarming and wasteful. We then have players regularly giving the ball away needlessly, sloppily and in most cases without any pressure on them. Pope, Hall, and Schar being the worst offenders of this. Tino just as bad when he's running with it far too long. Barnes can score a goal but seems to offer very little of anything else. There is a distinct lack of leadership or responsibility on the pitch at times and Bruno has to be the ****test heads or tails player the world has ever seen. I've lost count of times we've attacked Gallowgate first half this year. At boardroom level things appear to be a complete mess. Darren Eales hasn't been replaced, Paul Mitchell seems to have done nowt but stir ****, Jamie Reuben has gone ever so quiet since Mehrdad and Amanda left. Peter Silverstone has delivered Adidas (lets not go overboard as Villa bagged them too) and 12 companies as partners in 3 years. 3 ****ing years with a sales team and the man has managed to close 1 sale every 3 months on average. That's ****ing pathetic. Added to this there's the lack of transparency over memberships and numbers, the complete cluster **** of e-tickets, the attitude of the box office staff who all appear to be on a power trip (they're glorified retail assistants ffs), the constant delays in everything (stack fan zone, club shop and stadium study for starters), an utterly **** website design, and a distinct lack of progress on a new training ground. The entire club as a collective needs to pull its head out it's arse and get going again.
