SR have ****ed up big time by putting all their eggs in one basket. They must take the hit for it now, not the innocent fan base, which even the manager is having a pop at now!
I disagree. We may have competition for him if we wait. He'll have the fans support and he shouldn't be in any danger of the sack in the summer.
If any guy was to come in now, I wouldn't expect him to still be here for the first game of the championship next season . That's RM's only saving grace. It makes no logical sense to sack him from a business model .
I’d happily take Moyes till the end of the season with Rohl in the summer but that feels like fairytale world. The idea of sticking with Martin sounds like hell. My biggest fear with Moyes is a Mark Hughes situation where we get a subpar manager who does just enough to squeeze by and then we lump a 3 year contract on him
I’d take Rohl now with a view to the Championship next season. We aren’t going to stay up at this point and if we sit on our hands we might miss out. All he would have to do this season is make us more watchable and improve our form on Martin, which is borderline impossible not to do.
I know lots of fans like Rohl, but I fully expect whoever we get in next to be similar to Martin in style. SR made a point of saying how difficult it was moving from one defined playing to style to another after we sacked manager and that they wanted continuity. I doubt it will be Rohl. I just hope whoever it is is not quite as extreme as Russ.
Rohl’s style isn’t dramatically different, in the sense that the players can’t adapt quickly. It’s just more Poch/Ralph and more pragmatic. Look at the stylistic difference between Adkins and Poch. It took the players all of one training session to adapt.
Martin is 10/1 on Skybet for next PL manager to leave for the gamblers out there. I don't think those odds will be there for much longer!
