To be honest, Villa have been really poor today and most other teams in the premier league would probably be winning this today. We’ve still not tested Martinez yet
I don’t think Lumley has made a save either? Been poor game in the final third from both sides, but of course we are losing
From memory, when we lost to them 1-0 home and away two seasons ago, they were very poor both those times too.
Did I just hear this from the commentator? "Villa searching for the perfect pass, Philogene... that's not the one"
This is the problem, to many times we let teams get away with poor performances by not having the ability to punish them or lack of clean sheets
I think we have been quite 'lucky' against the better teams in that they have mostly had off days against us, we are just so **** that we cant capitalize. Of course RM has spun these as valiant defeats / draws. Man U were poor against us, Liverpool were poor against us, Brighton didn't turn up at all in the second half, hell even Chelsea started off ropey with their 50% B Team, Villa sound like they havent really turned up today. Our true quality is shown in our record against the lower half the table and its almost just as bad.
After 3 years of decline and losing half the first team, he completely changed how we play and got us promoted in a freak championship season - breaking our unbeaten record in the process. I know fans are pissed off but to say he wasn't great last season is just wrong. The point in keeping him is because be would probably get us promoted immediately. I have wanted him gone for weeks, but I'm not going to pretend he isn't capable as a championship manager.
He tried to play positive football and has subsequently been transfer listed for the audacity by the sounds of it.
