I do remember the good times because after over 60 years of continued support for this club, support at matches, not sat in front of a laptop or a telly, I haven't seen too many. Also you have no idea where the £50m we have took for transfers since Acun came has gone. You took a guess that it been reinvested into the club, and I sincerely hope it has, only time will tell. I hope we are going to see a new beginning at the club too with the new manager, and of course wish him well, and will be in the ground to support him. But it's the rubbishing of the only family besides the Needlers who have put their own money into the club and the rubbishing of our history that I don't agree with. We didn't come across Steve Bruce by luck, or win promotion to the PL by luck either, he wasn't lucky signing the players to achieve that either, it took someone brave enough to put their name on the cheques. It could have ended better, that I agree with, but we didn't finish up in administration either. The Hull Tigers idea was ridiculous but there were two sides to that story and Hull City Council don't come out of it smelling of roses. We had a golden opportunity to do something and between club and council we failed, but we only see the finger of blame pointed in one direction. Perhaps 'they' shut up shop after being ridiculed over the name change and wanting to develop the stadium and West Park because Assem was terminally ill and the family had other priorities ?
And yet when I eventually got to speak to someone she was very helpful and told me all I needed to know in 10 minutes. I only wish I had recorded the call or got what she said in writing.
Right you shags. Time to stop the bed wetting and time to get behind the team. There are far too many melts on here.
For a man who lived and ruled by "my way, or the highway", being told, No, must have come as quite a shock. Instead of holding his hands up, admitting the name change was not such a good idea or even saying sorry, he threw a tantrum. As you say, what might of been? I posted on here a while back, I wonder when the Allams will be seen as not too bad owners? Bizarre innit?
News on the new backroom staff. Hull City backroom staff update emerges with Ruben Selles set to freshen things up - Hull Live
Not sure why you've made this thread about the Allams, but I answered your question about acun reinvesting player sales. No guesses. The rest is irrelevant. For what it's worth the allams didn't put their own money in and instead drew money out of the club.
So the signed cheque to pay off Revenue and Customs for 20 odd million before the ink was dry on the purchase contract came from where? Or in the days that followed the guarantees for a similar amount? Yes, yes, guarantees is just that, not writing another cheque. But he was in for a lot more than he thought when he bought the club. You mean they received interest on monies lent to the club? How very dare they. I don't think they took salaries out of the club. Papa declared the bank of Allam shut, while at the same time a note appeaed in the club accounts that it was dependent on the support of the parent company. I have posted this before - you have to seperate the two entities, the business and the football club. They were running a football business. Not a football club.
I haven't either in principle. But let's face it, the initial period of the Allam reign was one thing. It was very different post stadium and name change debacles and prompted a period of deliberate disinvestment when the old man didn't get his own way.
Not meaning to be patronising, but imo that's a very good post. It's a pity the son was such a prick. Anyway, it's history. Looking forward .... "I hope we are going to see a new beginning at the club too with the new manager". Amen. I have a feeling that Selles is going to be the manager that Acun hoped both Rosenior and even more so, Walter, would be, and that we can now build something special once again under the ownership of Acun and the football leadership of Selles. (where's the 'fingers crossed emoji' when you need one?). It won't be an overnight transformation nor a quick fix though, that's for sure.
Thought it would take a few more years before the apologists popped up. If you think they didn't take back every penny they LOANED the club - not put into it - and then some you're being quite naive. The only reason they put anything in initially was Papa Allam screwed up his DD.
