I don't think they've been fully onboard for a while tbh. Said a few times this season that when we give it away and nearly concede you can see the players sharing nervous looks with each other. They don't look comfortable at all imo
There is…. Of sorts…. It’s the staff/players Xmas do… wonder what those on the top table will be talking about….??…. The start to the season….??… the points haul…. Going toe to toe with the leagues best …. Jack Stephens hair styling skills…. Can’t help thinking there will be a massive elephant in the room….!!
I have seen comments on the Reddit page that are supportive of him, but the Saints subreddit isn't as busy as either Not606 or Saintsweb. This poll is 84.7% against here and I havent seen a really supportive comment about him on here in a long while, I think there is maybe one user on Saintsweb behind him. I think people try to be respectful of him because of last season, which is why you see no Jones style raging at St Marys but anecdotally the vast majority of people want him out now, they are just not that animated about it.
THB says that the fans don’t get it and need to watch what is going on. He also seems to be saying that if a player passes the ball backwards when a forward option is on then that is down to the player and not RM. To me that just emphasises that we don’t have the right players to carry out RM’s style of football. https://www.dailyecho.co.uk/sport/24775236.watch-it---harwood-bellis-defends-southampton-playstyle/
I'm not down on the modern lingo so I may be wrong but I believe that could be referred to as gaslighting. "But we're doing things that are working if you watch the game back" 11 defeats in 14 games suggests otherwise Taylor
Yeah I don't get it Taylor, but its making you and the other players look like complete idiots. Also hard to argue with the actual stats that you are currently part of a side on trajectory to equal the worst ever top division performance.
Over the last couple of games I have been watching the players body language when they receive a pass and in most cases they are setting themselves to pass backwards. Wednesday evening did show just how much our players could achieve with a more attackng and enterprising approach.
Reading Alfie's Echo piece (using 12-foot ladder) and there is one thing he wrote "The cost of relegation is even more steep..." so with that in mind keeping Martin on to save money and costs seems counterintuitive. We are relegated, even the Positive Pauls on here seem to be admitting it now, let's go down in style not with another all-time-league-history record please. The lowest points total is possible, the heaviest home defeat in top-flight English football ever - we've got that one, the heaviest defeat ever in top-flight English football, that's 12-0 and entirely possible with this team. It will be a bit into next season for us to hold the record for consecutive games without a win. It's great being a Saints supporter.
But if we are going down regardless (which I think most of us agree on) then whats the point in sacking Martin (whilst still paying his wages) and also paying the wages of someone else to take us down? Financially we would be better off letting Martin take us down then reevaluating in the summer. We should have made a change after the Bournemouth game or perhaps Leicester at the latest.
If we don't, we will have a team and manager, that can, and will, only play one way. Even in the promotion season we conceded 63 goals, had magnificent home games against Millwall and Stoke and have Bazuna to pop back in goal yet. In the Championship next season, the better teams will have sussed us out. It will not be a walk in the park, and of course the supporters, those that pay money (some can hardly afford) will have to put up with the all those great league records and having had a season of watching the worst team in the Premiership probably ever. How many younger ones will come back for more? This could, I'm not saying it will of course, I know as much as the next numpty, spiral out of control and we could be the next Charlton Athletic.
Harwood-Bellis’ piece in the echo is just another PR lip service piece from the club, using a journo who will never speak out about the club, justifying their stance on sticking with the Bozo manager, instead of SR having to actually say anything themselves. Get used to it boys and girls, as RM will be going no where.
