No I’m not talking the one that hits you when you find out Chippy is taking time out as an air hostess for a few weeks or when Mick rocks up with Guinness flavoured sweets as opposed to cough sweets. No, I’m talking about the sheer power of Isak’s goal last night. I had a perfect view and, firstly, I cannot recall him striking/shooting as well and as cleanly or as powerful as that ever before. Secondly, I was struggling to come up with an equivalent strike in power resulting in a goal from us since Shearer’s free kick against Leicester donkeys years ago. It also doesn’t seem to have been given the credit it is due. That, for me was one hell of a shot and the only surprising thing is that the net stopped it and didn’t break. Can anyone else think of a better, cleaner and more powerful shot come goal after Shearer’s that would compare to the Isak thunderbolt?
McDonald v Leicester 1973, I think it was. Unbelievable, but not broadcast on TV. I’m sure anyone there would say the same.
Obafemi martins vs spurs (I believe) was an absolute rocket. Must have been a harder hit than Isak. Update - a spank it was indeed: On 14 January 2007, Obafemi Martins Martins' 20 Yard shot vs Tottenham was clocked by Sky Sports at a speed of 135 km/h, making it unofficially the ninth hardest shot ever recorded in football https://youtu.be/50ddpP1QJcI?feature=shared
This is what I thought, but then remember Laurent Robert (also v Spurs I think?). I think it’s still hit.
I was there in the Leazes end not far from where I sit now Seen that rocket of a shot up close You have to also look at the different weight in footballs now compared to yesteryear so supermac's to fly like a rocket would have been hit harder I think
Good job there was a net there to catch the ball Watching the tv replay it looked like it could have easily knocked your big heed off, poster boy
