It’s quite obvious the new contract was simply to keep his value high should someone bid on him. Treating him like a commodity rather than a person.
I actually think his value will only decrease at the moment, no one’s ever gonna make a decent bid for a player that doesn’t play. We’ll probably just end up loaning him out in January as we’ll fail to sell him.
I like Gray but he’s not a RB and definitely not better than Spence. I don’t rate Reguilon and never have but with the injury and Udogie playing quite poor, he should have been given game time imo.
For all the talk of Spence's "redemption arc", it is pretty damn obvious that a player 6 years his junior is ahead of him in the pecking order.
What’s crazy is he literally saved Ange’s bacon against Coventry too. Utterly bizarre treatment and scenario now.
Ange doesn’t rate him at all. He would have been better doing what Maresca did with Chelsea players he didnt want and telling them they have no future and not letting them train with the first team than having Spence and Reguilon train all the time but not ever get game time.
He actually done that with Reguilon but not Spence. No idea why, it's as if he just wants to embarrass Spence, at least Reguilon knew the deal in the summer that he weren't in any plans. Makes the decision not to pursue/ sign any FBs in the summer even worse now though. Had a natural CM playing in both spots over a natural RB and LB... bonkers really.
Totally agree. And I'm afraid it all continues to cast more than a shadow of doubt on Postecoglou's overall competence as a coach / man manager. He'd better get a win (or at least a good performance) tonight, otherwise the sound of knife-sharpening will be deafening!
Spence seemed to work his way back into contention, do well with an opportunity against Coventry, then get injured. Now he appears to have fallen almost completely out of the pecking order, behind a youngster out of position. Postecoglou indicated that he's not fully fit, which may explain it. Spence's previous behavioural issues may also have come into play, though that's purely speculation on my part. It's far from ideal, though. I'd like to see Gray getting some time in the midfield, especially while Bentancur's unavailable.
Yeah I've said recently that based on the last 18 months I do think he's a very average/ even below par manager, his squad management and his naivety just doesn't seem great for this league but I still want to back him/ for the club to back him as we probably won't stumble upon another Pochettino any time soon so may as well just give Ange better players in the hope he can make something happen. Definitely need a result and performance though, Solanke's on his old stomping ground so would be great if he could bag a couple.
Bookies are thinking the same, Spurs very much not expected to get the win tonight! I reckon it depends on what Kulusevski turns out... in form Deki will be decisive for us!
