Ok considering you didnt even see the game your comments are even more absurd!! But to Answer your points aswan 1. Proud to get a point and proud to be a jack, things dont change that badly that quickly, really? watch match of the day mate 2. Scored twice against a poor defence,Lita did well for his header in fairness but Blackburn are bottom for a reason, they are crap at the back!! 3. Comparing last season with this is a complete non starter, its not the loss thats a concern(read the post again ) its the lack of penetration in the final 3rd and failiure to compete against the bottom team, losing to preston we knew we were good enough to be safe in the division, losing to Blackburn is asking a question of us in terms of if we are good enough to be premier league ,a question that losing to preston didnt bring up(ccc level of course). I understand when you say CALM DOWN i did put comments in warning people that my views were angry and one eyed!! roll on a nights sleep and a chance to forget about today
I think its the big debate over zonal, and man marking. Rodgers is a fan of zonal, so in certain games, will cost us. Ash should of picked the yak up and not left his side in set pieces. When Caulker is fit, Williams and him should hopefully shore up our defense, but, we do need to get an old head in the defence, to teach our young defenders how to play in the premiership.
We need to freshen thinks up and add quality. Other clubs are doing their homework and we are getting sussed out. I watched the Wigan v Arsenal game today - dear oh dear Wigan are woeful - and the match commentators say the same about them going forward as they say about us. I think we are a much better version of Wiign, but with the same vulnerabilities and the same lack of creativity going forward. End product has to be improved. And if we are going to keep playing the ball backwards to retain psession, giving the opposiion time to regroup and concentrate their defense, then we're just going to have to get more creative, more dynamic off the ball, more energetic when going forward. There's no alternative. We can either do this though addiions or the current crop just have to find anther gear at the right moments. If we don't then match by match, point dropped by point dropped, injury by injury, we will find ourselves at the wrong end of the table as the seaon hits the home stretch - never a good time to have to be better than you've been all season, to have to play significantly above your mean.
Not forgetting yankee than it can be difficult to play our type of football under presure to score goals!! Blackburn do have quality players (at least 2 anyway) and it made a difference today, we on the other hand like to laud our boys but there has been very little end product from them all things considered
We may have kept the most clean sheets in the league, but when we lose, boy do we lose. Man City 4-0 Chelsea 4-1 Norwich 3-1 Blackburn 4-2 Shrewsbury 3-1 We have problems in both departments. The defence needs sorting because as today showed, Monk is too slow, and we have a tendancy to panick. Once this is resolved, Dyer and SInclair need to be taught to be a little less selfish and pass the ball, learn to cross even. Alot of blame is being put on DG, and unfairly so. There's only so much he can do! A chef can only cook when he has the ingredients, and a striker can only score when he gets the service.
To be honest deep down I was expecting this, we never do well against sides fighting for survival, but we are going to have too, this season or else, I expect Blackburn to climb the table, trouble is are we going to fill the gap? I don't think so, but we have now had a wake up call, and we need to bounce back against Fulham at home, what worries me is that last season, we had Borini and Sinclair, we have neither this season by the looks of things, we used to swap the wingers around, don't see much of that of late either, I hope that Agustein, and Caulker are ready to come back in, and maybe it's time to let Dobbie come of the bench for 30 minutes, and give Gower a rest, but we were generally below par today, maybe travelling so late yesterday, taking 6 hours to get to the hotel was not good planning, who's idea was it to travel and hit the rush hour??.................. please log in to view this image My son just text me to say, we were poor at the back, he thought that Monk, and Jazz struggled today, he's going to drown his sorrows in Manchester tonight!!................ please log in to view this image
Im not buying into the always struggle against teams fighting for relegation line because we are a team fighting against relegation in this league and that was the remit from day 1 , to win the games against the teams around us!! Everyone including the players knew these were the games to win(Wolves,Norwich,Wigan,Blackburn,Fulham and even Bolton) so why the inept performances when it matters ?
To be frank we played a like a Sunday team. It was truly awful. Blackburn are a team we should of been able to boss but as it turned out we were found out. Our game was awful. Not enough force going forward and awful calls from the management. Yes we tried to mix it up but it was to little to late.
You don't take 2 regular guys out of the team that's been playing game in & game out & expect not to have problems . Lita & Jazz started with almost no minutes this season . We desperately need an experienced left back & an experienced right back with quality in the air so Buck can interchange with Taylor & Rangel , who really aren't quality in the air , it's the only two places where our cover is really weak when injury hits . Trying to give less fouls & corner kicks is not dealing with set piece problems , we need help in our box . Our set piece problem never went away , it was just lying dormant . Expect a lot of balls lofted from everywhere into the box from here on . Caulker & Agustien will help if they ever get back IMO .
i have said it once, i have said it a hundred times and been supported by some and ridiculed by some, GET DOBBIE OUT THERE, at least he shoots from outside the box. i don't know the stats (Scott maybe can tell us), out of the goals this season how many have been scored from outside the box??????????? CRC, with due respect, a prem league side should be able to take 4-5 players out and have adequate cover and DG is no better or worse than Lita/Moore et al (thats a different story as you know my opinion on the three of them). 4-4-2 doesnt suit out style of play ppl say - well change the style of play, if no dobbie put sinclair in there and buy a winger. anyway it seems the defence was the prob yesterday. Monk, gr8 servant to the club, good get ya coaching badges Monk cos in all honesty you are 2 slow rant over for now - Allen suspended for 1 match???
Agree on alot of things you said musty, but when you said any premier league team can replace 5-6 players, you hit the nail on the head We cant mate. Monk is no where near good enough in this level. Ash protects him and the midfield so much, we are crying out for another CH such as caulker. Watching MOTD, Joey was unlucky to be sent off. I still think, we will be ok tho.
I was there yesterday and have to say Norways assessment is spot on. The manager is spot on when he says we need to sign players in January. Jazz needs to go on loan and get gametime, he loooked out of his depth yesterday at times. He gave away the corner which led to their second goal when the ball was already going out for a goalkick, which is down to his inexperience. Monk aged about 20 years yesterday, he was brushed aside time after time. Caulker can't come back quickly enough. Midfield was crying out for Dobbie and also a big nasty so and so like Augustien. They kicked the living daylights out of us yesterday and has Norway said the ref let then get away with it, Sinclair kicked 3 times in the 1st 10 minutes. We need to get more streetwise and quickly especially away from home. This ref (Chris Hoy) was the one Fergie had a ban and fine for, he called him the worst ref going and I for one agree, he couldn't wait to give things against us, he didn't really need to yesterday as we were so poor in defence we'd have lost with a fair ref too.
you dont get to watch football in general and especially the swans for over 50 years without knowing if we are good enough or not and i was the only one who had us down to lose by 2 clear goals, 2-0 but we were worse losing 4-2, lets face facts here we are no way a premiership standard team in a million years and all we have got is a couple of payers who are at the lower end of premiership standard and thats it.......its no good getting on the players back as they are dong the best they can and they will get the odd win and pick up an odd point here and there but you have to be realistic and accept that we are far from good anywhere from goalkeeper to strikers in this league. even the way we play is wrong as its so easy to read and someone will put double figures on us at some point of this season thats for sure, i can see it coming......I want us to stay up more than anyone and like i said you will know a good team when you see one after 50 years + of watching the swans and i have said more than once that if we want to give ourselves any sort of a chance we must inject some strength into the squad and have alternative ways to play against individual teams and not play the same week in week out. ..It did not surprise me one bit we lost against the worst team on the day so easily........and if you brush this hammering aside thinking we always play bad against bottom sides then you are deluded........
Dai how long you've watched football for has nothing to do with it. "The way we play is wrong" ?! Ok, we're struggling creatively but it's as if by getting into the Premiership everyone has forgotten how we've achieved success so far. I'm not brushing anything aside, there were lots of mistakes yesterday, and schoolboy defending (at best) but6 to change anything significantly would be football suicide. All the calls for "2 up top" etc are illfounded because the only way we'll stay in the league is to continue to control possession which we do by outnumbering/passing the other team.
Scott- I agree to a certain point, problem we are having now though is teams matching us in midfield and that takes away the only advantage we have, when other teams put an extra guy in midfield they still have better options than us going forward! its a problem because the whole squad is coached to play a certain way and we have no real strength to play any different if we wanted!! Hence why rodgers wanted 4-6 players IMO, he kneew he needed different options trouble is he isnt going to get them from the board ,2 at best it looks like.
The answer is simple, we need to get better. There's a difference of opinion on how long it should take though. I'm quite happy for the club to grow slowly. I wasn't expecting us to compete with teams full of multi-million pound players, and while I still think we've got enough to stay up, if we do go back down I know the board and everyone at the club will be doing the most to maximise our opportunity to regain promotion to the Premiership. Busting the bank and panicking because we got our pretty little behinds spanked in Lancashire will do nothing but create problems long term... *cough*JIMMYBULLARD*cough*
your making excuses scott, we dont have enough to stay up by a long way, our honeymoon period is well and truly over and you can see we are not good enough, so my long years of watching the swans tells me we are a long way off and one of the worse teams in the premiership and it wont be long before we will be rock bottom. you cant see it and live in the hope its a blip where the older generation have seen it all before and can tell whether a team is good enough or not......will we spend in january and bring in at least 6 players ....i dont know but it will only get harder as we approach the second half of the season and without 6 or so better players that will inject some strength into the team then dont expect to stay up as it wont happen.....there has been to much praise and not much skill with our players that gives a false indication to the players themselves and definately to most fans........
Scott- Do you really think we will be in a position to go for promotion following a relegation?? Relegation will mean the break up of the team, alot of players will want to try to stay in the prem league(and you cant blame them) so there would be a big rebuilding job to do by Rodgers(if indeed he himself was still here) But can i ask you why you think we have enough to stay up? and what do you base that on? My own view is that we need to strengthen in January to have any chance to stay up, and the reason im not confident is because we cant beat the teams around us. Wigan,Blackburn,Wolves and Norwich were games that we targeted for points and got very little in return. Dont get me wrong i knew it wasnt going to be easy but there are many that think the team is better then it actually is, if we dont add significant quality in January i can see us going down, nothing wrong with that you may say but if that happens we will need to replace about 6-7 players and that would take us years to rebuild to the same standard, would rodgers want to stand still and tread water while we groom the next batch?? i personally dont think so.
