The club is a mess. Can’t believe we haven’t got a new Director of Football in, as Wilcox left ages ago and we’re still sticking with his philosophies and ideas, which is clearly not working or suitable for a poorer relation like Southampton, in the premier league.

The clubs needs a rapid change of direction, as if they are to stick with this Clown, do they really think it would be any different should we get lucky and get promoted again straight away.
And yes I do mean lucky. He finished 4th with a top Championship squad, conceding way to many goals with way to many blips along the way.

Tom24, you’re really upset the Martin in crew with the change. It’s alright to give up now and just piss away the season in charge, as he’ll be so much better next season :emoticon-0102-bigsm

We have a new DOF; we appointed from within recently. Name of Mark Bitcoin. And no, he has no footballing experience at all.

So yes, we have a replacement in body & title at least ...

This is L&O reporting from 2039. Saints are in Hampshire League 1, battling relegation. Manager Russell Martin is quoted as saying that 'The players are brave, decisions have gone against us, but I have the full backing of the board'

They never seem to be. As far as I can tell The Republic of Sportonia do nothing, as long as it all bobs along the same they just don't care. The one thing they really have no concern over is results and points and remember our illustrious genius has 'proved' that the league table doesn't really mean that much - apparently.

Tbh if they sack him based on last night I think they are incompetent idiots (well more so than I already think that) unless the only reason they are doing so is because they have a manager lined up. I don't think any saints fan learnt anything new about RM last night, and we were always going to lose by several goals given the players we had available and the team we were up against. Not in any way condoning RM btw. But the time for sacking him based on a result or performance was Bournemouth, Leicester or Wolves not last night.

Absolutely no point in delaying the inevitable as confidence will be shot and things will just get more toxic with each game that we continue to shoot ourselves in the foot.
11 losses out of 14 games tells the story and while I think that the players are still onside the fans definitely aren't.
The bottom line is that we cant get results with these players playing this style of football and something has to give.

Yeah, not quite doing the same job as Wilcox, more of a director of performances, football science etc as think it was said Wilcox duties would be spread between this bloke, parsons and RM himself.

    Premier League Stats:-

    Nathan Jones: P6 W1 L5
    Win Rate 16.66% PPG: 0.5 / SACKED

    Russell Martin: P14 W1 L11 D2
Win Rate:- 7.14% PPG: 0.357 / Being giving more and more time. Why?

And if you take RM first 6 games
    W0 D1 L5
    Win Rate: 0% PPG: 0.16

As you can tell I want him sacked as I just don’t get it. Would rather SR come out and give the vote of confidence and then we can all decide what we as fans want to do and spend our money on for the rest of the season :emoticon-0100-smile

As the club has become a joke, we may as well have a few laughs.

Imagine a manager having the audacity to change tactics depending on the opponent. Just won’t wash at Southampton :emoticon-0102-bigsm

I said the other day that I don't find myself putting Martin in the same category as Jones, Puel and Pellegrino (ie managers who I was desperate for us to sack).

But if Martin doesn't take swift action and strip Stephens of the captaincy, then I will be putting him in that category. I'd like to think that I'm pretty reasonable and don't deal in hyperbole, but I cannot accept Stephens' actions as captain. He shouldn't be allowed to retain the armband (I'd rather he wasn't in the team fullstop, but that's because I'm biased and have never rated him). If Martin lets him keep it, Martin can do one.

I honestly can’t imagine the players are completely onside anymore about the style after yesterday. It must have been ****ing horrific for the players in the second half to have your fans sarcastically “whey”ing everything and to have “we’ve got the ball” chants when you’re STILL trying to do your passing around the back bullshit.

I just can’t imagine Lumley is relishing the chance to get back out there and do that **** again after the way he was shouted at last night. Even the players after 11 out 14 losses, with fans now actively on their backs, must start thinking that they’d like a change.

This just isn't a matter of being close and needing to persist, this is now the dictionary definition of “madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”.

“madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results”.

It's the last thing the oppositions will expect though, us to try the same failed gameplay again. By jove, Russells a genius ...
