I would assume they should be. To be honest her life is like an episode of shameless and the men she's been have been complete losers themselves so it'd just be shuffling benefits
I get £90.50 a week unemployment benefit, that's it..I've paid full national insurance contributions for each one of the 47 years I've been in employment.
That's an absolute piss take, Ric. As much as ppl scamming the system are a problem, the series of governments which have created this system are also. Here you get 60% of your last 12 months income for 12 months, irrespective of savings and assets, then 50% between 12-24 months, and after that, you get a subsistence salary, which is what those on disability get, of around 325,000kr a year (about £23k right now) - but you'd really struggle to live on this if having to pay a rent or mortgage. If you're on dagpenger (unemployment benefit), you have to do whatever course or job they send you for, or it's stopped.
Anyone know the size/shape of the black economy these days? It must have changed a lot over recent years with u-tubers, tiktok'ers, ebay traders and suchlike, people doing stuff from home on the quiet.
A bad situation. Hopefully she's using the time to look after her kids well and not let them copy the behaviour. It must be difficult to see. I have one person in my extended family who hasn't worked and probably never will, but in his defence, he's had severe schizophrenia since 15 and been in and out of secure hospital all his life.. he struggles daily with staying alive, let alone having a job.
With regards to the price of food 1980 wheat price per ton about £100 today it's £180ish 1980 loaf of bread 40p today it's £1.50ish In days gone by over 30% of income would go on food, today it's near 15% and most of that is overpriced tat.
A long long time ago,the government in power decreed absentee fathers should pay more. So they hauled in all the fathers who were paying and upped the rates. The definition of absentee is somewhat flexible. Absent, in as does not live with the child. Or, absent, no idea where daddy is. I believe a small percentage is deducted from benefits for child support. But as to it how it all works now, I really have no idea.
I don't think anything is deducted from benefits for Father's bunging their ex for childcare? My middle Daughter has a kid to some local muppet,he gives her £100 'occasionally' when he hasn't overspent in the pub,at football or going to gigs etc.He takes very little to do with the bairn to be honest and even on the odd occasion he plans to take her,he invariably cancels due to his hangovers!! She gets some sort of working credit to boost her income but they don't touch it 'IF' he gives her anything. It's even more difficult for him to get the little un now since her and her Mother moved in with us.He'd need to come and get her and for various reasons he's loathe to do that(might have something to do with me putting my toe up his @rse the last time our paths crossed)...
And to qualify for the maximum state pension Ric, you need only pay 35 years of NHI contributions. No chance to opt out after that time and invest the extra in a pension pot. I do appreciate part pf NI is for the purposes of health funding. Hope you find something soon...
In complete contrast to Jaguar, Ford are releasing a new version of the MK1 Escort, it will look like the original, but have modern suspension etc and it's only going to be available in a manual petrol version... please log in to view this image
Apparently it's not actually Ford doing it, it's Boreham Motorworks... please log in to view this image
No worries I entirely agree that having people working full time and still needing benefits is ridiculous, and should be criminal as tax payers fund large corporations who then pass that to their shareholders!
Lots of women at my wife’s company in fact most only work enough hours so as not affect whatever benefits they get . Just suggesting but shouldn’t the rate per hour equivalent for the other days be less than the minimum wage ? I realise the minimum wage rate isn’t great . Is that too simplistic ? when I got made redundant I’d worked continuously for 44 years , I had a modest redundancy so like Ric was given about £84 a week , took a part time job to keep me in the market which earned me £90 a week , they took the unemployment money off me ! The girl renting a house opposite , had a kiddie drove a car , smoked , went abroad for her hols and had parties , never seemed short of money - don’t think her dad paid for it all . Stopped one of her parties at 4am one time in a fit of real anger , got rid of the blokes - she didn’t have one again whilst I lived near her . I asked at job centre about how she does it and they said having a child helps an awful lot ! And just because you’ve paid in all are treat equally ‘broad brush’ approach .
Quite a few women I know do 16 hours as they then get their council rent paid and council tax or a bit of it I think It really isn’t worth working full time on a low wage when council rents are over a100 quid a week maybe the government need to look at other areas Like Buckingham palace council tax is1800 quid a year so think how much All those mega wealthy homes should be paying
That's only because the Council Tax is only charged on the part that's the residential apartment, the rest of the Palace is considered a business premises on which they pay £891,632 per year in business rates.
