I don't agree with any of it tbh mate.

He's not in hot water though, no charges.

I don't believe football players should continually be asked to 'take the knee', wear rainbow material or anything else.

BBC on the ball as ever?
Their article said he'd been reprimanded on Saturday as well?

Always been more interested by what Barabbas thought/felt about things myself.

Sounds like he was quantifiably the more likeable of the two.

Many people, and journalists in particular, seem to forget or just ignore the fact that individuals have and should always have a choice in such matters. Whether its due to religious beliefs or just personal opinions it doesn't matter.

The fans quickly forgot that when James McClean didn't want to wear a poppy.

Nothing to do with him turning his back on the national anthem while playing in a testimonial for West Brom in America, or the fact he posted twitter/Instagram videos/photos or whatever of him and his children wearing balaclavas bringing them into an obvious act relating to Irish terrorist groups.

JM situation has been done to death already so best not use him as he is a terrible example. If he hates the English and the royal family so much why did he come here to collect money with royalty heads on the money. Have some self respect and do your own thing elsewhere.

Exactly, being forced to wear the rainbow to represent gay pride is abhorrent to those of a religious background

He's an extreme case mind, massive attention seeker who deliberately winds people up. Would be only comparible if after the match Guehi posted a video on social media singing homophobic songs to his kid.

People will jump on these bandwagons, because of peer pressure, without really thinking about the issues.

The BLM 'let's all kneel' nonsense was based on a career criminal despite what was said at the time.

People claimed the police officer committed a racially inspired killing based on the colour of his skin ...

... turns out he was just a shyte cop and a bully who didn't discriminate on colour.

This rainbow stuff isn't just Gays, it's a whole raft of people who really need to be pulled up, not celebrated.

And if folk suddenly started to wear armbands/shirts branded with - 'White Lives Matter' it would cause absolute pandemonium.

When Pilate saw that he was accomplishing nothing, but that instead a riot was breaking out, he took water and washed his hands before the crowd. “I am innocent of this man’s blood,” he said. “You bear the responsibility". All the people answered, “His blood be on us and on our children!” So Pilate released Barabbas to them.

If this is your sort of thing, just support Israel, it fits.

The rainbow armband is to demonstrate support for inclusion of the associated communities in sport. In this case football. The premier league ask, but not force, captains to wear one. Morsey did not wear one. Guehi did but altered it. Maybe Guehi could have just not worn it like Morsey.

That last time I checked the number of openly gay footballers in professional football was paltry. Why, I wonder, are there so few? Is it because the environment is not inclusive? The rainbow laces campaign, and the pride armbamd are there to promote inclusion, and if those stats hold true perhaps we need more champions for such a cause. Shame, in my opinion, if what overshadows the sentiment, is these sort of incidents. We need the game to be more inclusive in my opinion and I have chosen to support these campaigns personally and will continue to do so.

I have said before I think he was treated harshly in that! He has certain beliefs about armed forces and wearing a poppy. And it's not for no reason.

The problem with McClean is that he is a bit thick and didn't really help himself and hasn't since!

I have a few thoughts here, firstly you have to consider if the push for more inclusion over the last few years has become detrimental to that cause, there is some data that suggests so especially with younger people, whereas Boomers and Gen X tend to have a live and let live attitude (neutral) when it comes to support for the LGBT+ community, with Zoomers it tends to be a split between support and non-support.

This is probably controversial but I would hover this suggestion on gay male footballers; I watch a lot of MMA, when it comes to women's MMA there happens to be a lot of lesbians, far more than the percentage in the general populous. I think people tend to abstract that the type of women who are able to attain the status of a high-end athlete in a combat sport where knockouts and submissions are the order of the day, tend to have a hormone profile in the extremes for women. I would posit that a similar argument could possibly be made for gay men in elite men's football.

Why is it such an incident to write I love Jesus on a armband. Does that statement go against what the armband is meant to represent?
