I'll get behind whoever the appointment is from the list but I'd be pretty disappointed with Hughton. I'd probably prefer Selles but I have a Samuele Allardici bias . Jokanovic seems the biggest gamble, no doubting his ability with a good set up but I have reservations about how he would fare and if he could provide what we need in our current situation. I'm glad they seem to be getting it done quickly because we can't really afford to waist time and whoever the new boss is will benefit from working with the players for a few weeks before the window opens.
We have got 3 Goalkeepers, 4 defenders and 6 midfielders that are fit and good enough for this level, 5 defenders if you include Coyle which is scraping the barrel. Not one striker. How is it a crazy take? Someone has been signing players that are nowhere near good enough....you can only speculate as to why!!
If we all piled on and he became favourite, Acun might want to please the fans twice over. Give them back the manager he never should have sacked, plus quids in from the bets.
As in bookies favourite yeh? Not that Baz personally thinks he's favourite or have I missed something?
Alex Neil now odds on according to Sky Bet. Why would you go for Neil rather than Mark Robins - unless you were utterly bonkers?
He might be cheaper? Someone said appointing Robins would involve some sort of compensation to Coventry - but I have no idea how that works!
If we appoint someone who's free to join immediately due to them currently being unemployed, I sincerely hope its a short term contract to the end of the season with a 'Big Carrot' offered as an incentive thereafter if they keep us up, and don't play Walter Ball which is worse than Rosie Ball!
Alex Neil has an average of 1.41 points per game in the Championship which suggests mid-table mediocrity, however, the majority of his teams have finished in or around the playoffs. His championship finishes are, from highest to lowest: 3rd, 5th, 5th, 7th, 8th, 9th, 14th, 16th, 16th, 20th. If you only consider his points per game he’d be expected to achieve 36.7 points with our remaining games. Added to our current points total, we’d be expected to finish with 52 or 53 points this season – and stay up. He might not seem exciting, but statistically he’s experienced and has actual success at this level. He’s only had one Championship season (Stoke 23/24) in which his results had a team realistically flirting with relegation, making him a safer pair of hands than most.
It says he's manager of Blackburn and the City wiki page has vacant next to the manager. They need to update that now that Tim Walter has left.
