    One of my favourites back in the day.

    I remember him fouling Geoff Hurst 4 times in a matter of 2 minutes in one game. Geoff Hurst complaining like mad to the referee who shrugged and seemed to tell Geoff Hurst to just get on with the game and only after the fourth foul did the referee have a word with Big Bad John. Each of the fouls would have been a yellow today and one of them would definitely have been a red today.

    That was in the day when football was still a contact sport.

    Every team had at least one ‘hard man’ and McNamee was definitely one of ours.
