Forster, Davies and Dragusin can hold their heads up, but that's another poor performance, and as poor as he was in the week we missed Solankes work rate so much today. Hope that Grays was just an impact injury because he should start at Bournemouth, as should Spence.
Other teams appear to be turning corners. We seem to be going round in very familiar and repetitive circles.
Considering the games we have lost, I’m just pleased we managed a draw. CBs and Forster played well. Nothing remarkable elsewhere.
Yeah missing so many players and after the European game, a draw when you play well isn’t the worst thing. 3 games unbeaten and draws are always better than defeats.
Keeper and and CBs were excellent. The rest looked knackered. Really disappointed with Maddison and Porro. Johnson scored but was very ropey. Thought Werner was starved of the ball but was wasteful and too weak when he did get it. Son looked burnt out by half time. They were very good...really impressed with them tbh. Decent team. We deserved a draw at best. I found it interesting that family groups and groups of mates were discussing whether to keep Ange or not. Seemed pretty split from what I heard in the station, and the walk out of the ground. Not a good sign for Ange.
It's not just us who are inconsistent the whole league with the exception of Liverpool and Brighton have been so far. Top 4 difficult to predict right now.
He's not doing himself any favours. Fans are getting tired of the one step forward two steps backwards pattern we've seen since over a year ago. He makes subs too late and often takes off the wrong player(s). He also isn't rotating nearly enough and with an injury crises and his style of football we are paying the price. Porro has been overplayed this season, as has Udogie. With Bentancur out long term, even more strain is falling on Bissouma and Sarr, yet we rarely see Spence at RB or Gray in his actual position. Son isn't burned out. He hasn't played enough minutes for that to pass muster. He's simply not the player he used to be and is struggling to adapt to the fact that his body can't do what it used to do.
Many thanks for all the birthday wishes all, really appreciate it. Had a feeling Spurs were gonna let me down. Very painful game to watch, the forwards were abysmal and I think Bissouma pushed them close too. Davies and Forster were excellent and Dragusin - passing aside - was also solid. Sometimes to you have to appreciate a great goal and know there’s nothing you can really do and that was the case with theirs. Truth is they deserved to win, our lack of “oomph” to go for it when they went down to ten really pissed me off. There were scattered boos around the place but nothing too severe I’d say. I have a lot of criticisms for Ange but I still stand by that he was massively let down this summer, to scrape 5th and barely improve your team, I’m not sure what was expected. He’ll likely be another fall guy if this form persists and it’ll be rinse and repeat.
I largely agree. The board needs to stop this half-arsed half-baked approach to every manager and either go all in or pull the plug. If he's the man for the job, back him like he is. If he isn't, he should be gone before the January window to give someone else the chance to build. This waiting around for lightning in a bottle is infuriating.
Regardless of him being let down, I do think he has made matters worse for himself. I hate to raise the subject of 'game management' again, but it frankly doesn't exist - and his use of subs is dreadful. Everyone could see that Porro (already overplayed) was struggling from the first half, but he finished the game regardless that we had Spence available. I could go on... And often do!
His subs today were in my opinion all wrong, Lankshear and Spence could (and should) have replaced Son and Porro when Kulu came on. Not sure how Son and Bissouma played the whole game as they were both well off the pace.
Hope it was a good birthday mate The boost at the end were aimed at the ref and the Fulham keep for the non stop time wasting
"I've had questions about the Manchester City game. In seven days we have copped some significant blows, we can't play like we did against City in every game." "With this club, everything we do well is used as a millstone to bring us down at every opportunity. We can't react to any of that." I've picked out these two quotes from Ange simply because I have rarely heard a Spurs manager say something I disagree with more. Absolutely awful take.
