Im not there but maybe its to try getting that second goal and confirming the victory. Who do we all want in the 3rd Round should we get there?
Good to get through with the chance of an interesting tie in the next round, a money-spinner or local derby or, failing that, a soft home draw (lots of small clubs left in) with every chance of making the 4th round. But equally important for me was that Cort, Pritchard, Sullivan and Evina showed they are ready to come into the team when needed and won't be weak links. Hayes and Wagstaff were the other changes but we already know about them. Shaky first half but that is to be expected with 6 changes. But unlike the Brentford match we dominated the second half against a useful Carlisle side.
Good for Jason Euell and well done to Swindon and The Gills. Any Premier side at The Valley - United, City or Arsenal away - ker-ching! And no injuries.
Yeah agree with you EF, however, for me, the main thing is that we just do not look like letting in goals, and that must be a huge boost for the guys in attack - knowing that 1 goal is likely to be enough most days - but then again, lets go and get 4 !! The defence is just immense this season
Yep - AFC Totton away OR a big prem team at home - because we know that 1 ) It will be a sell-out and 2) the tv cameras will be there.
Watching Bristol City v Midd. - ex Charlton players on both sides in Nicky Bailey and Jamal Campbell-Ryce. Question is ..whould either get into our side now?
The back 5 were all good but I'd give it to Morrison because he also scored. Other contenders would be Sulli who gave a faultless display; Solly who was not beaten all match; Cort who fitted in seamlessly in Taylor's position; Wiggins who seems to play like 2 men, and also had an important goal-line clearance at 1-0.
Cort was very solid in the air, not so good on the ball, but perfect for this level of football. Pritchard was a bit anonymous in the first half, but really got involved in the second and it was good he played the full 90 minutes. Green was dangerous all game. Evina had a reasonable game, Hayes was fairly hopeless, Waggy was frustrating as usual (he played up front until Green went off)
Mr Powell, you have hardly made a mistake this season regarding tactics, selection and recruitment. But please please please stop playing Waggy up front!
