15:20 Leicester - Gaia Vallis Class-5 Mares' Handicap Hurdle over an extended 2m4f on heavy ground. Only 5-runners unfortunately, but Saint Des Saints mare should be suited by current track conditions and has sound chance. Brendan Powell on board for the David Bridgwater yard. 2/1 (Bet365/Wm.Hill) best price at time of writing, on the ATR site.
Really keen on Bleu De Vassy in the Royal Bond. Not sure about riding arrangements on the Elliott runners with the sad injury to Jack Kennedy but Sam Ewing is down to ride him. A bit of value against Romeo Coolio.
Quite right, Nass, a stupid selection from me but I got very frustrated in my search for a Sunday pick (like to play my part on the old DRT if I can). If the mare can't win this, then it's time for a bit of peace and quiet in the paddock for her?
13:55 Carlisle - Busty Boy e/w Class-3 Handicap Chase over an extended 3m on soft ground Rank outsider in this affair, so will just have a few shekels for fun on this Ivawood gelding (Damsire: Halling). Craig Nichol rides for the Daragh Bourke stable. Price early-doors, a whoppping - 40/1 (Wm. Hill) early-doors on the ATR site. (Well, 'boilovers' do happen now and again, but very rarely, must admit)
Romeo Coolio is beaten in the Royal Bond. Looked all over the winner at the last but simply couldn't quicken. Tounsivator had looked exposed after finishing 5th in a handicap last time but he was giving lumps of weight away there and he was value for a bit more today, having to be switched around the 2nd and 3rd to challenge. Difficult to see it being Supreme form though.
What a fantastic race that was! Fair play to Croke Park, did it the hard way and put in some spectacular leaps.
Only just catching up with todays racing. I see Harry Derham snuck over the Irish Sea to land a very nice pot at Fairyhouse with Washington. It can be done. Maybe this younger generation of trainers will prove a bit more enterprising
