This is where the issue of balancing ultra short term with long term health of the club comes in. We need to be giving Ogunsuyi minutes this season if we want to keep him at the club. It’s tough right now, though, with three strikers already in the picture. That’s all of the spots for the match day squad taken. And we’ve got Abdellahi to get in there too. Reflex fanbase desire will be to spend big in January for a striker (as it almost always is) but that would almost certainly mean that Trey would end up leaving in my view.
Has lavery gpt the potential to step up in the next year or two? Was on the bench a few times last season
He's still a young lad tho so I don't think he would leave at the end of the season if he wasn't getting 1st team minutes. There's a clear pathway at the club and he can see that, he will get his chance when the time is right
Ref gave them a lot of 50/50's , always a tough ask this one, but we played well, and were unlucky to loose it imo, just like last night a draw would have been a fairer result OaU
I think the pathway closes right up quickly though. With maybe four players ahead of him under the age of 24 it makes it harder to visualise. I think we can do it with the players we have, but I’d worry if we spend big money on another striker in the next window. And then it becomes easier to justify sitting in Liverpool’s academy rather than ours.
That's the same for every single club tho, we are at least giving youngsters a chance. The clubs that I understand that are monitoring see him as a future player and not one that'll start. So surely he's better staying with us where we are at least giving youngsters a chance
