I'd rather see VAR go than Martin! It's an absolute sham, waste of time, it's ruining football for me, pathetic!!
Can we get a 'put a statue up, he's a saint' option added to the survey? At this point the romans seem to have decided that he is causing too many problems and making too much noise. He made Howard come down for a chat and so VAR is going to absolutely **** him every chance they get just like they always seem to with one club or another. If only the last 2 games are considered we'd be on 9 points and nearly out if VAR was used correctly. VAR is relegating us currently, not Martin. Hes doing alright!
I don't know about a statue yet, let's start with a wall plaque. Statues are often posthumous but after retirement in exceptional circumstances.
Well at least we're going to hear from them. After last night's 2nd half, I'm OK with them backing Martin for now.
Agreed and I certainly wouldn't complain if he was sacked. BUT the players are clearly still playing for him as their response last night showed and I'm not sure there are any realistic options out there that would do significantly better.
Whatever the say it'll be hilarious. 1. We are not pleased and the team must improve so we have released Russell and thank him for promotion and his hard work (not too late or anything then lads) 2. After the last two performances we are pleased to see the team improving and now picking up points, we have faith in the process that Russell is implementing and that the playing staff and we will do everything we can to beat relegation (two goals against Liverpool and a draw with Brighton, whilst conceding 4 crap goals from a 'Mr Defence' coached team, is not an improvement. Honestly)
Looking at the league table with the right manager and a couple of signings in January we could still save this season. There is only a handful of points in it at the moment. What is clear is Russball will not save us.
6 points off 15th place, if Everton lose at Man U tomorrow. A manager with a modicum of pragmatism and defensive organisational skill could easily get us out of the mire, but it isn’t going to happen.
I don’t know tbh. We’ve played way more “easy” fixtures than hard ones, even with a Guardiola like manager it would be touch and go I think. We are going to need to pull off at least 3 unexpected wins against sides we shouldn’t be beating to survive now, and that number is only if we manage to win/pick up points in all the games we should do
We won’t get that playing possession football. We need to be tough, gritty and grind out some smash and grab wins. Good defensive organisation, going long every now and then. Frustrate teams. As an interesting side note, when we got jones most were appalled that we would be playing long ball football. Here we are crying out for us to kick it long to Paul. It’s amazing what a return of 5 points in 13 games can do.
My prediction on the statement is it will provide a confirmation to everyone on their own opinions. Those happy to stick with Russell Martin will find the shared evidence that he’s doing fine. Those looking for a little reassurance there’s a plan will find it. Those who want it to be a laughable statement will find it laughable. The only question will be which camp manages to shout the loudest afterwards to create the appearance it’s the fans’ prevailing viewpoint.
