I'd suggest people sticking with Twitter out of some perceived ideology are shooting themselves in the foot when for most people it's simply a better functioning app.

I couldn’t disagree with this more, I have moved a social media presence from X to BlueSky and the 100 or so followers I’ve garnered aren’t noticeably left, right, centrist or any other characterisation placed on them by X acolytes. To me they look like folk that just want to have a reasonable conversation.

Identity fraud is more common in the UK, because there isn't a national identity number and digital thumbprint id - so it's far easier to generate wage slips, birth certs, utility bills, forms of id etc in someone else's name.

There's not enough fertile, wild land to live off in the UK, so if you want to go underground, you'll end up sleeping on someone's sofa and working cash in hand at a car wash and even then, you can't avoid the CCTV, something only a ***** or a terrorist would do out of choice.

I often wonder how those who claim to sell everything including their home then go off travelling in a motorhome full time do it. Obviously they legally can't because they need an address for vehicle registration, bank account, insurance and a host of other things.

You used to be able to use a c/o address, but since Brexit and the resulting financial cross-border legal issues, you have to have a permanent UK address to have most uk bank accounts and mortgages etc. I think HSBC still do an international account and higher income banks such as Coutts have a workaround paid account.

Most apparently use the address of a family member or friend.

I’m talking about social media sites requiring a minimum a form of ID to make an account.

There's plenty of vanlifers on YouTube that do it full time, they use an accomodation address, and collect mail now and again. There's one conspiracy theory daft twat (socks with sandals) that makes Mr Trebus look OCD tidy. :emoticon-0138-think

‘You mean like this thing that is different from the other thing and one requires a payment method and the other doesn’t?’

    Yeah, well done.

I was just asking about how other sites verify that their users are over 18. I don't think Amazon requires you to be over 18 to make payments. Pretty sure gambling sites require ID.

I don't know how you can disagree on what I have seen on my timeline, unless you are calling me a liar. Maybe your experience is different to mine, what I said is a fact and what I have seen so far.

Australian senators have passed a world-first law that bans under 16s from having social media accounts.

LinkedIn are oddly having this argument it doesn’t apply to them. Not sure why they want to be available for under 16s but here we are

They haven't decided yet, apparently that will now be decided by the Communications Minister. They have already said it won't include gaming sites, messaging sites and YouTube (as you can view it without logging in anyway).
