Good at defending, not good at being ball-playing defenders, which the last three managers have required of them. When wingers can dribble really well but have **** end product, they rightfully get criticised for it. Why is it any different from a centre-half and right-back in a team playing out from the back who can defend okay but don’t look up and scan what’s going on ahead of them when they have the ball, can’t make a pass that isn’t more than five yards sideways and overhit or underhit most of their crosses? If we are to persist with this style of football, which seems likely given the last three coaches we had and the fact most coaches play out from the back these days, then Jones and Coyle have got to go.
No one downed tools. Players were demotivated, confused and being told to play in a system that didn't work over 18 games, that they either didn't understand nor could play in. The brief periods of good play were professional athletes doing what they do in spite of Walter's technique, not as a result of. Walter thought he knew better and had a magic system that didn't work in the championship, nor the Bundesliga 2, hence his two redundancies. Hopefully he'll enjoy his pay-off and take a lesson from it, and all the best to him for the future. Acun was an idiot to believe it and will hopefully make a more measured decision next.
Interesting poll in the HDM, I expected the majority would put the blame for our current plight on Walter, but they've resoundingly blamed Acun. Who is most at fault for the clubs current position? The ownership/board - 59% Tim Walter - 33% The players - 8%
I expect anyone paid to do a job of work,be that a footballer or a fork-lift driver,to give 100% every time they go on shift. I've never drew a wage that I was in any way embarrassed to pick up,irrespective of sh!tty bosses, conditions or wages.
Fair point, but if you were told to sell stairlifts to customers in bungalows, then got screamed at by your manager for not selling, you'd get confused and demotivated to do your job.
We’ll we will all find out when the new guy comes in and plays the way we all want with the right team?
I find that crazy. Acun had made some poor appointments but show me a club that hasn’t. He has always made a decision in the belief that it would benefit the club. He’s communicated well, things be off the pitch are very good and he wants to invest in a team that gets to the Premier League and raise our profile across the world as he does it. Walter had a system. It didn’t work. He refused to change it. He didn’t build relationships with the players or fans.
It's massively unprofessional for anyone employed by the club to be taking this to social media. It's pretty obvious Wally's position had become untenable though.
IMO, that's right. Acun hasn't helped himself with some of the daft comments he's made. I don't think he appreciated the backlash he'd get to sacking LR, and to replace him with Wally, coupled with the turnover of players this summer and whatever happened to Tan was just a recipe for disaster.
Unless Alzate is finally match fit that sounds like a decent plan to me. 2 in CM, with Palmer in that role.
I'm pretty sure if you've got nothing better to do all day,you could engineer another 99 silly analogy's...
He expected Walter to provide attacking football, goals, home wins, he's as p*ssed off as the rest of us.
I've always given 100% at every job I had and with being a skinny twat all my life i've had to give a bit more to keep up with my workmates, that's partly why i'm ****ed now.
I think if Palmer is back into a proper midfield role he will be much more effective, under TW he was all over the place.
His footballing decisions have been a car crash. All he's done is waste a lot of money and it's why we're in no better a position from when he walked through the door nearly 3 years ago. Actually, we're in a worse position as we don't have a tiny wage bill or 2 academy graduates we could sell for £15m a piece.
I wouldnt mind seeing how a back 5 would do, Hughes, Macca and Jones as the central 3 with Giles and Drameh as wing backs, a midfield 4 (incorporating graft and craft) and Bedia up top who can actually hold onto the ball
