If acun hadn't backed LR in Jan given the position we were in, then he would have been slated for that as well. If we'd made the playoffs and won them ( which we'd have had just as much chance as the other teams ) then it would have been a master stroke and everyone would be saying he's fantastic etc.... but we didn't so he gets slated with the benefit of hindsight ( but that's just the norm these days ) Acun backed the manager and gave him all the tools needed in Jan to reach the play offs, but he didn't, it was unfortunate all round
No one said don't back him. Clearly the criticism is in the short term nature of the signings and the pressure it put on achieving promotion last season unrealistically. If we'd signed omur, Pandur and, say, Ohio on a permanent, that would have been a good January without being crazy. No hindsight needed. I said on Jan 1 and again at the end of the window we shouldn't be getting expensive loans or older players like sharp as they weren't useful beyond that season and as we weren't going up they were redundant.
I don't think that's true, if he'd just brought in someone to cover for Delap's injury, I think people would have been happy. In fact, and this is with hindsight, I think we'd probably have done better if we'd only brought in Carvalho on loan. There were plenty saying it was reckless in January.
Wayne Rooney says the club's junior team could have done better than his first XI - Yes that's because he's not managing them!
LR was offered a replacement cover for Delap. He told Acun he didn’t want him. Hence he got the boot when we didn’t make the play offs.
I've asked for your source on this before and you refused to answer then either. As we signed both Ohio and sharp (replacements for delap) I suspect you're full of ****.
The whole point of anonymous sources is that they, you know, remain anonymous else they could lose their jobs
Anonymous sources? They’re not journalists, they’re either untrustworthy gossipers making **** up for attention or spreading **** fed to them by other untrustworthy knobs. “Hey I’m in the know, I’ve had an email from a source …” Bullshit.
Absolutely. Who said we had no chance of going up? The loss of Delap knocked us back but on paper (as evidenced by the fees they commanded in the summer) that team was as good as, if not better than, most others in the top six. Rosenior was guilty of not getting a proper tune out of it but that was hardly the owner’s fault.
Are the management teams families living in Yorkshire? Given the short employment length of a championship manager, it would be odd to move them over from Germany..
Ipswich and Leicester had the best two starts ever to a Championship season. Southampton and Leeds had just come down after more than a season in the Premier League and so had multiple PL players and parachute payments. We weren’t better than any of them on a consistent basis. We arguable could have finished 5th, but it’s likely we’d have ended up like West Brom and Norwich did in the playoffs.
They didn’t move over straight away. I think they moved over around October/November time, or were supposed to move around that time for the reason you mentioned. Managers tend not to uproot their families straight away after getting a new job (if they even do at all). Rosenior’s family still lived in Nottinghamshire for the entire duration he was here.
