Liverpool take on Real Madrid at Anfield on Wednesday 27 November at 8pm. Match available on TNT Sports. One of the most anticipated CL matches between European Royalty. We beat them 4-0 at Anfield in 2009. Let's get at them early doors and replicate that scoreline. Predicted team: Kelleher, Bradley, Konaté, Virgil, Tsimikas, Szoboszlai, Jones, Gravenberch, Diaz, Salah, Gakpo
Real Madrid announced 19 squad to face Liverpool. Six key players out. https://www.thisisanfield.com/2024/...an-squad-to-play-liverpool-6-key-players-out/
I'll be disappointed if we don't win by at least 8 goals. Partially because I can't watch the game, so I'm, in general going to be disappointed.
I don't think it's that important and would have one eye on the City game, we've already qualified I believe and have some decent fixtures in the CL after this game (Girona away LOSC home). Give some players a rest and some others a run out. Kelleher Gomez Quansah VVD Tsimikas Endo Elliot Jones Salah Nunez Gakpo
We can really dent RMs chances though, and maybe force them in to a dodgy play off. If we want to go deep in this comp. (as we do),the possibility of RM out of the CL opens the door a little.
I really don't care about this one nor about revenge. Beating real won't put them out of the comp either. A boring draw with both teams tapping it about would do
I agree I'm more bothered about avoiding injuries for City. Having said that, I wouldn't make full scale changes.
Tsimikas is out anyway. You can't just take a beating playing reserves v real. That's also not the way. If real are happy with a bore draw I'd be happy too. Real only have 6 points so they would want to win here by right? So it won't be easy.
I'm a strong believer in inertia (and mental stat) in football. You lose one game and it makes the next one harder to win. If we beat Real, our chances against City go up. I'm not a fan of playing a weaker team, or not giving our all to save energy for the weekend. (if we were playing Locomotiv Bumfuckola, sure rest players... but not against Real) We play to win. If we draw or lose it's not the end of the world, but I think it makes City harder.
Slot - Mo is in my team more than out I do like the guy, has a decent sense of humour but a bit more wry than Klopp who was very exuberant but both very good with the media.
Intrigued to know how you've not gone into the match thread prior to the game ending when you've created it...
Business as usual team wise imo. We’re here for 2 games a week, players are used to that and at the end of the day they live for these occasions. Will be some pretty pissed off players if they’re sat on the bench for this one.
Yep, and let’s face it if we’re going to win the thing we’d likely have to beat them in the KO’s at some stage, so would be good to have the mindset that we know we can.
I think the City result takes a bit of pressure off this one. If they had won the narrative would've been about how their blip is over which would've been amplified if we lose as well. Now I don't think a defeat changes much. I do think we can win regardless of who we pick as Real have injury issues too, but there's no question they're still capable of beating us.
I'd say Robertson and szobo for 60 and then gomez and jones on. That's where I'd focus on for city The gakpo Diaz situation is fine by me. Let form dictate Macca and gravenberch to be monitored imo but you can't go in v real and play Endo and morton etc. 0-0 and no injuries is fine by me.
