I've still got one. The sponsor has faded though so it doesn't look as good as it used to. I liked the blue stripey one from the following season too.
Fun fact. The first and third manager of New York Cosmos, Gordon Bradley, was born and raised on Wearside and was on the books of SAFC before an injury in a youth game put paid to a career with the lads. He went on to sign for Bradford Park Avenue, Carlisle Utd and then off to North America. He switched allegiance to the USA and played one game for the USA men’s team and eventually moved into management, then administration, then finally as a TV pundit. He died in Mannasas Virginia on 29th April, 2008 aged 74 having had dementia for some years previously.
I think that everyone didn't realise it was in at first cos Given hadn't really moved but then the net bulged and a massive roar was heard!
I was in the west stand in line with the 6yd line...incredible strike. Think there is a photo with only one bloke in the whole crowd cheering, lad has some reflexes to notice before everyone else in the crowd!
You're almost right, it’s a blond lass in the NE corner … … she’s on her feet cheering while the rest look like a mural I’ll dig it out if no one else does, bit of work to do first.
