Maybe “The players were showing their appreciation & receiving a positive response from the supporters. Me joining them would have changed the mood negative, which could have affected the players” would have been a better response to whoever asked the question. It’s a management thing.

I actually agree with you, thing is there seems to be a lot of rose tinted looking back at Rosenior and last season, I just think we need some perspective where lots of people are saying we shouldn't have got rid of Rosey because of how bad Walter has beenz for me I think it's right to say the call to ditch Rosey was correct and that the call to hire Walter was a shocker.

The thing that frustrates me is, we said it was nuts to sack Rosenior at the time. An act of self harm that would set us back. And the argument against that was that by appointing a more exciting manager with an attacking style that guarantees goals we would actually be better off. That idea has totally and utterly backfired, so of course we are now back to: it was a ridiculous act of self harm.

last line from the classic Billy Wilder film 'Some Like it Hot'.

I watched the EFL highlights show, this morning. Geez, how the hell did Pedro miss chance one, the header from the Coyle cross, and chance two the tap in from the Slater cross....Honestly, they could have pulled him off, put his Donkey on and got better end product. He was that bad.

I think Walter struggling also shows the consistency we had under Rosenior.

The Championship is a tough league - as we are now finding out. Finishing 7th last season - especially with the top 4 that there was - was a good achievement. Most other years we’d have been a play off team. It’s not to be sniffed at.

That was built on consistently picking up points. Walter only winning three games in a row and that’s it (friendlies and cups included) suggests to me he isn’t cut out for that consistency and that’s a problem.

That's the most annoying thing for me, constantly implying we're that thick we couldn't possibly understand possession football. He did it again in Mike White's post match interview yesterday, "I'd rather lose games than playing long balls all the time". Who's asking for that? Is he not intelligent enough to work out that there's a middle ground between his pointless 6 yard bagatelle football and the Crazy Gang?

In his defence, if Acun had had his eye on the ball pre-season and bought a decent striker we wouldn't be in this position. Given the Tan situation I do wonder if some of those deal were kiboshed by his under the table **** ups.

Talking of going one better and finishing top 6...I wonder if Acun still things we'll be up there this season....The value of the club will fall off a cliff if we're relegated. Got to be a concern for him.

Most of the set piece goals we concede are due to zonal marking (or lack of it). Bin it.

I think that's a clear pattern with City managers. For decades, the successful ones are the ones who've made us hard to beat, had the players scrapping like hell, spoke well and had a level of connection with the fans. This applies to Taylor, Brown, Bruce, Adkins, Rosenior. The ones who've had fanciful ideas of outscoring teams with our attacking football and often been unclear and confusing when they speak are the ones who've failed. This applies to Slutsky, Shota and Walter in particular.

Pedro's not a striker, as we saw yesterday, his best position is just off the main guy. Given that we've lost 60-odd goals from last season's squad and we simply don't possess a reliable goalscorer, surely it's time to try something new. Change the system, put Bedia up top and Pedro slightly deeper - at least, with two mediocre finishers, we'd give ourselves a better chance of troubling the onion bag than with just one.

Oh, and get someone to teach the whole squad how to shoot without the ball coming down with snow on it.

would we have been much better passing the ball between the back four until the opponents got set up defensively and then not knowing how to attack?

As it resulted in us having the sixth most shots on target in the league last season and the eighth most goals in a first full season under the manager, which was a marked improvement on the previous season and with a largely thrown together side, I think there's enough evidence to suggest that we would have seen a continued improvement this season. So yes we would have been much better than what we have now regressed to.

Agree with most of that except Kamara. Yes he looked good until it came to bit where he had to deliver - deciding whether to cross or shoot, and execution, is literally the winger's job and he still looks very green in that regard. He's young though and it can't be easy stepping up a division to play in a struggling team.

Isn't his preferred position on the right anyway? We know that Longman's better on the left so it's baffling why they didn't swap when he came on.

Both look like two of our better players at the moment. They both need to start and ideally in their preferred positions.

I dont see how anybody can think Rosenior would have improved the team given the team lost £80m worth of players in the summer
