The current regime wants to increase it. The Conservative/Lib Dem coalition introduced the triple lock in 2010. There is absolutely no chance of energy bills coming down during this government as we have the highest energy bills in Europe and have to import energy because our own energy reserves are not being exploited in a kamikaze attempt to do nothing about climate change of which we are less than one per cent the cause.

Money is just legalised tokens and now that it's digital its unlimited legalised tokens. So "free money" is absolutely real. So are the consequences of "free money".
A completely flawed observation: Do tell me how YOU are going to create some of this “free money”. If you want some cryptocurrency then you will have to pay for it with fiat money, the sort of money that is only ‘created’ by Central Banks. Are you really Christine Lagarde? Since fiat money has not been backed by any asset of tangible long term value (i.e. gold) since 1971, the global economy has suffered huge devaluation of it on a regular basis. Those that own physical assets and gold have been best protected from the race towards serfdom. In real terms most of the West is burdened with catastrophic levels of debt and the only ways that this can be cured are inflation (erodes the value of the debt but makes everyone poorer) and to stop spending beyond our means. Politicians will not do the latter if they want to get elected and they are quite happy to continue passing the financial Apocalypse on to the next generation.
