That's really humbling mate, very nice of you to say that. Part of what I love about John Prine is that he speaks about how we complicate the simplest emotions ... ... if you love or miss someone don't waste years avoiding telling them, just say it out loud. Saving all of your words for the end may not work if you run out before they do.
That's top advice. We all take things for granted. Then realise how precious things are late in life. Sometimes too late.
Another cracking song and typical of those that could never be recorded these days, everyone is too precious and incapable of accepting something unashamedly daft and joyous. I remembered it being used in an advert for beer and just found it, thanks for reminding me (Ramones version but close enough.)
Here's one for you Nig, another song producers wouldn't give a second's consideration these days ... ... as the girls in the video demonstrate, don't strive for perfection just have a laugh ffs
It's the great thing about music that stirs memories etc. I love the old surf sound. Not sure why I picked them
This is the king of surf imo. The song has been around since the days of the Ottoman Empire but sounds as modern as can be … … some interesting info on the video as well. And so to bed.
Whilst their appearance on TOTP, were it to be shown today would draw the ire of those who worship at the altar of the eternally offended, it’s still a feel good song
I find lots of things offensive but I’m a f*cking grown up and being offended rarely results in death. As an example I find it offensive that all the main news channels had the death and funeral of the One Direction lad as their first feature. He was a persistent Class A drug user and drunkard who found it funny to smash up hotel rooms. He wasn’t a major artist, or talented musician, but we’re expected to accept that he’s an international superstar. Selling loads of records doesn’t make anyone a star, the Sun sell lots of papers but it’s shyte … … meanwhile John Mayall, a giant of British music, who changed history dies and there’s barely a mention. I don’t usually post these things because, although offended, I don’t feel the need to inform the rest of the world. Now, I wonder who’ll find this post offensive
Whenever people say dull and, relatively talentless, drones like Claire Balding, Jamie Oliver, Ranulph Fiennes, etc etc etc are 'national treasures' it really winds me up. Especially when such a unique, intelligent and talented man is overlooked because he doesn't fit the 'loveable housewives favourite character' profile people seem to love. When he's gone he can never be replaced ... ... an absolute genius who'll leave a huge legacy for those capable of understanding it.
