To be fair though when would the engineering works get done if they planned them around every event going on up and down the down the country throughout the year?.
Indeed I am but it’s now Friday and I just can’t be too depressed for a whole 3 more days. Monday? Well probably might be depressed then!
Fair point - The original fixture was scheduled for Saturday at 3:00, but the TV supremos care more about Far-Eastern subscribers than about fans. Cynical? Moi?
Well a Liverpool fan at work was happy to give me 3/1 Southampton or the draw, but I might as well give him the fiver now tbh.
You know, if we had a Dyche or Moyes type manager I'd be confident of getting something out of this game. The weather is going to be horrendous which is always a bit of a leveller. Plus big teams can be caught cold coming off an international break. If we had a manager willing to play direct football (doesn't have to be hoofball) we could cause plenty of problems. But we don't and we'll end up 2-0 down early on after giving the ball away in our own half and that will be that.
I don't think you should get **** for it. I don't think he is worse, but there's a discussion to be had. Problem with NJ was that he was the full, fit to burst, twat-package. It wasn't just his grim football, it was the whole lot. Russell is a bit arrogant, smarmy and stubborn, but if his football worked, you wouldn't think he was a bellend. If NJ played impressive football, you'd still think he was one of the last people you'd ever want a pint with.
A blow that Ramsdale is injured but McCarthy can point to his PL big match experience. Unfortunately, his big match experience includes the 9-0 at Old Trafford in 2021. Been there, done that, Alex can chuckle at half time when our bunch of invertebrates come in at 0-4 down. In each of our previous 9-0's we've had a player sent off inside the first 15 minutes and instead of provoking a backs-to-the-wall performance, it signalled abject surrender. With or without a sending off we are more likely to see the latter on Sunday. At least another with big match experience, Janny B, won't be playing. In the OT game he scored an og and got wrongly sent off in the 86th minute giving Utd the opportunity to score 3 more goals. They were really going for the 10. Before that Man Utd massacre I had an uneasy feeling we were in for a heavy hammering (didn't expect another 9 though) and I have that feeling about this one too. When Man City get to about 4-0, they quite often ease up and just play the game out but Liverpool and Utd are relentless. They'll score as many as we let them, it's as bad as that. As my new favourite referee David Coote would say...........Liverpool? Bunch of c...s.
I actually think Jones would be sound to have a pint with tbh. While he clearly rubs people up the wrong way he comes across as authentic at least and I think he'd be alright away from pressure situations.
I'm not drinking at the minute and not sure I could handle him sober With more consideration both sound equally bad. Jones going on about how fit he is and Russell prattling on about bravery. Think I'd rather go for a drink in Fratton.
