Despite the Forest link, I thought he may do ok for us. He did well in Wales, and did well to keep Forest up, It seems like he really hasn't got much of a clue. Don't think Potter would keep this team up - he looked a broken man after Chelsea. Moyes, whilst not inspiring, has had successful relegation battles in his locker. Whoever is in charge has got a hell of a job on.
The manager has to take the lion's share of responsibility for the team's performance, but some has to rest with the players. I don't see the same level of desire in our players like I do in other teams near the foot of the table. I don't see that determination to get first to the ball or get forward and join the attack or sprint back and pick up loose players. I don't know whether this is a lack of fitness or just not recognising what is actually going on around them. The manager has to get the right team for the position we find ourselves in, which could mean not picking the 'best' players. Maybe it's time to get Hamza back in midfield and get amongst the opposition and put some authority and pride into the performance and, just as important, get the fans 100% behind the team. Give them some evidence that we can perform. We've got a seriously difficult fixture list coming up and the way we are playing doesn't give me much confidence that we'll pick up many points. In fact our season could be over by early new year. We need to get some fighting spirit in the team and show that we aren't a soft touch. First let's stop the ridiculous and naive defending (and that means all the way from the front) and stop the easy chances and goals going in. Then we might have a chance of building something from there.
This is bang on. I don't seem to see Ipswich, Wolvers or Saints players losing heart and giving up. I'm not saying our players are but there just doesn't seem to be the same desperation to do well, or as is well documented a plan or style. And it's not just this season. To me it stems back to the move to Seagrave where everything appears to be laid on and they don't have to fight or jostle for anything. I know they made them pick up their own dishes but gosh, what hardship. Theres no desperation. Almost a scatter gun approach to transfers in the summer hardly helped but that's a different rant.
Sheffield United haven't conceded since August with their fans loving the 'commanding presence' of Harry Souttar... admittedly it's the Championship... Is it just me who feels that we've never really given the lad a proper crack? Australia have done quite well internationally too against some top opposition... Faes has been pants for both club and Country in recent months and Souttar paired with Okoli with some proper defensive cover might well be worth a shout ... Thoughts?
I agree. he seems to be one of the main fall guys for our relegation yet in the last 15 or so games he played that season I thought he was solid and had joined a club that had already lost its mojo. I would prefer him to Faes. I know he is injured but I would also have Nelson back.
Looking like Nelson is out for some time ... had surgery but no real info on what the 'serious injury' is ...
Souttar, Okoli, Coady and Vestergaard are all more defensively capable than Faes. Faes might have more speed than 3 of those but it doesn't make up for his lack of positional sense, poor decision making and inability to recognise danger and deal with it competently.
Fatawu out for the rest of the season with ACL injury. Devastating for the lad and a significant blow for the team. Vardy may or may not be back on Saturday. He was shovelling snow at Seagrave on Tuesday so, he's hopefully fine. Or, he'll have made his back worse by shovelling snow! In brighter news, Daka is back...
Oh and to top it all off, it appears that the clubs shirt sponsor is bankrupt! Leicester City release statement after shirt sponsor BC.Game declared bankrupt - Leicestershire Live
You beat me to it https://www.sportbusiness.com/news/leicester-shirt-deal-remains-despite-bc-game-bankruptcy/ https://www.lcfc.com/news/4172754/lcfc-statement-bcgame?lang=en Club statement says that it's all fine. So, it definitely won't be
Surprisingly, that didn't go as badly as I was expecting. Admittedly, my expectations were pretty low. Is it just me, or do you get the impression that if Cooper does actually have a plan, he's not sharing it with the team? And, not suggesting it would've impacted the result or that we were good but, there were some atrocious officiating decisions today.
Bit predictable ... Faes needs resting - other 3 did OK - thought Kristiansen had one of his best games .... Wilf was awful and was lucky to have not been red carded Vardy starved of any real service Mavididi should have started Where the **** was Edouar - his physical presence would at least have given us an out ball ...
I seen Cannon play last season! was quite impressed with him, was always wanting the ball and fighting for it but for some reason was not given much game time! I know 4 of his goals were in one game, but would have rather we kept him here and left Edouar at Palace.
As an aside, can anyone remember one of our players having a redder face than Kristiansen - other than Graham Cross?
Spot on about Faes. Perhaps we could rest him for the remainder of the season. It was so predictable what was going to happen for that first goal. He was never in control of the situation, didn't do the right thing by getting his body between man and ball and ended up flailing about like an octopus falling out of a tree trying to clear the ball. Is the guy uncoachable? He's either a very slow learner or a very fast forgetter. Totally agree with comments about Wilf. No matter how frustrated he gets he can't go out trying to maim someone just because they are better than him. Vardy was anonymous. Agreed that he got no service, but he didn't make himself available either. So many times the wide men were looking forward for an outlet but he never moved from his central position to make runs down the channels to draw a defender out. As much as we all like him it's becoming obvious he would be better used as an impact sub. He can't perform to his best for 90 minutes. Also agree about Mavididi starting. Although El Khannous did okay, why play him out of position when we have Wilf in his position trying to be creative, and a proper winger on the bench? And why was McAteer taken off? He worked his socks off getting up and back and added some much needed energy to the side. Finally, why did Cooper's post match comments focus on the referee? Just made himself look desperate and sound ridiculous. We were too passive for long spells in the match. No change there. We played a central defender who is an accident waiting to happen. No change there. We played square pegs in round holes. No change there. We got torn apart on the counterattack. No change there. Can't blame the ref for any of those things.
I'm pleased but genuinely shocked we've been so decisive, so quickly. Early favourites with the bookies, Potter, Moyes and RVN.
