https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/c79zj7rz3l4o Turkey cuts off water and electricity to millions of civilians in its offensive against EU and UK-designated terrorist group PKK. I'll pop off and make a tea while I wait for the moral outrage at the UK's £2.1billion arms deals with Turkey and how we should boycott them immediately.
This is trolling at its finest from Biden. Trump left Biden a complete mess with regards to withdrawing troops from Afghanistan. He, as usual, wasn’t interested in the detail, took the word of the Taliban around safe passage, which wasn’t honoured and let Biden take the flack for the equipment left behind and the bringing forward of the handover date.
Outgoing octogenarian yank President escalates war on distant continent, in bid to trip up incoming deranged megalomaniac mentalist President. Gee, thanks a lot, Murca.
Kinda hoping Trump just goes to town with his 'I'll end the wars' mantra and tells Netanyahu that they ain't getting any more US weapons.
I think when he won in 2016, in political terms Trump was unknown and as such unpredictable. I think most of world leaders now realise that Trump only wants to feather his own nest and can help achieve that without changing their own direction. If you study his adult life his only success is he semi-excelled at being a marketing guru. Once the intended audience gets beyond the BS, most of his businesses go down the toilet. He will also be “at war” with his own political enemies from within to care too much about the rest of the world.
Yeah, I think he's easily played. Leaders have worked out that if you flatter him, you'll get him onside. That's a pretty easy currency to deal with and there are lots of people that are far smarter than him out there that will use that to their advantage. I watched that interview with Joe Rogan, and what came across is that Trump doesn't actually know a great deal about anything in any detail, and relies on others to inform him. He is infamously known for wanting all of his advisors in the White House last time around to condense their briefings to one A4 sheet of paper lol. I guess the bigger issue is the people around him who will be making actual decisions and advising him. Because this time he's choosing proper **** knuckles from Fox TV, Elon Musk, Conspiracy theorists and just about anybody who is loyal to him and his batshit ideas.
I’m eagerly awaiting the Trump, Musk bromance to go south. 2 guys with egos the size of small countries, what could possibly go wrong!
Is there a chance if Trump can't be elected again, unless he changes the rules somehow, that he could get Musk to stand. I just got that gut feeling there has to be more to this relationship, and Musk will be thinking way longer ahead than four years - otherwise what's stopping the democrats from bringing Musk down once Trump steps aside, it seems a very suicidal friendship to take although I've not given it much thought beyond this.
I genuinely don’t think Trump thinks that far ahead, or cares for that matter. I think if he was looking for a successor, he would probably want Don jr. to keep it in the family. I still have a sneaking suspicion he wants to screw the constitution and try to get another term after this.
Amusing article by Marina Hyde about Don Jr vs Musk https://www.theguardian.com/comment...nald-trump-jr-elon-musk-nepo-baby-billionaire
Intriguing shout which I'll bookmark. Wouldn't amaze me if Musk has designs on sitting in the big chair one day. For now, I think the relationship is pretty simple. Trump isn't as dumb as he leads on. But he doesn't (and won't) understand anything as well as he does business and the economy. These were both really strong points in his first term, even if everything else played out like a dystopian nightmare. I think Trump sees Musk more than any entrepreneur alive as the man who can cement the supremacy of the US economy over the likes of China, India, Brazil etc. both through innovation and efficiency. That's why he's keeping him close. The threat of Musk upping and leaving (he has openly spoken about building more gigafactories as well as vast solar panel fields in China) is probably very scary to a man like Trump, as this is the only sector of politics he genuinely understands. The rest I reckon like General Aladeen, he gets from watching Popeye.
