Programmes like Big Brother, I’m a Celebrity, the Only Way is Essex etc. Made by the brainless for the brainless.
Were we not going to try and avoid political posts? A fortnight ago I was called out - and rightly so - when I made a comment on a possible consequence for Ukraine of the election of Donald Trump. So why is it OK to attack the BBC and now Government policy in clearly political posts? Or is the avoidance of political content here dependent on where that comment falls on the political spectrum?
1. The BBC is not political , it is the national broadcaster. 2. I wasn’t being political, I was empathising with the plight of small farmers, the backbone of the food economy in England. There’s a demo planned in support of them in Central London later today , over 20,000 are expected to attend. I am just pointing this out rather than commenting on it.
De-funding the BBC is a well known right wing aspiration. And painting the agricultural inheritance tax story as a spiteful attack on small farmers is a subjective viewpoint to say the least. Clearly these are political issues. If politics is going to be back on the agenda here, then that's OK with me - as long as we all know where we stand. I'll do my best not to allow such debates to become toxic again, though I have a poor track record in that regard. That was chiefly why I accepted back in July that politics was best left alone on Not606 Charlton. A clear policy decision is required. @Dick Plumb1 it's your call.
@lardiman thinks he’s Mr Chumley-Warner since his Southport missive. You are correct about the break though - zero Charlton news to discuss.
I wouldn't dream of it. Even though we've only lost 1 out of the last 10 and sitting just outside the playoffs Some on here thought Neil Harris was pony
A true story … Some of us are old enough to remember John The Piss Head Docherty & Frank Mclintock For a very brief time, the Scots duo led the Spanner’s to the top of English football. The likes of @Ringo Lion and @TC (Lovely Geezer) paraded round Bermondsey in their rag & bone carts, fantasising about playing Barcelona at the Den in the European Cup. Then …guess what …the wheels quickly fell off Just like they always do at Millwall. They spunked their prize money on record signings Paul Goddard & Mick McCarthy ..remember that pair ? Not only that, after a couple of draws, TC & Ringo etc got on Docherty’s back …he got even more pissed in training and was sacked …to be replaced by Fat Bob Pearson the same tit who had scouted Goddard & McCarthy. At around the same time, a Millwall player from that era had to quit the game far too soon through a bad injury, and came to work with me. We both liked a bet, and being Millwall / Charlton we often talked football. The tales he used to tell me about what the management & players really thought about the fans at Millwall Happy to share the name of the player in a DM , but the problem at the Wall is not the crap players or the **** managers …it’s unrealistic fans like TC & Ringo
