That front 3 has such high potential. Jagielka and Carter get all the plaudits but Stan Hewitt is an excellent prospect too

Was just looking at upcoming 21 and 18 fixtures for a 'fix' during the break.
Both sides seem to have been doing well and should be worth watching?
I don't normally go watch, but might make the effort.
Unfortunately no games for a few days.
Next ones (courtesy of Official Web Site) :

U21's. Unfortunately at York's LNER Stadium ... but could kill 2 birds with 1 stone (as in, been meaning to go to a game at their ground).

    U18's.

Can't be long before they give Jagielka a crack at the U21's.

Hasn't Sinik been turning out for the U-21's lately? Not there today so maybe he's in the squad for Saturday? Or he's injured again...

He was in the squad for the last league game so presumably he's still in the picture. Although with Kamara presumably also back in the fold he's probably a further step down the pecking order and unlikely to be involved.

Scoreline .... 'The Under-21s return to winning ways with a 3-1 victory over Wigan Athletic in the #U21PDL, courtesy of a goal from Zane Myers and brace from Tyrell Sellars-Fleming'

Above headline brought to you courtesy of City's Academy Twitter account. It was cold. No warm blue sky in sight (see what I did there?).

Long overdue ground-tick for me. Tidy small community stadium, but it is a bit bizarre that our U21s travel to York, a much smaller city / conurbation than Hull & it's catchment area, to play their games. I'd imagine there'd be a good atmosphere there for a York City league game; might try it sometime. If anyone is going to see our U21's there, leave yourelf plenty of time as it took me a while to find out how to get into the part of the stadium that is open for these games!! The instructions say to head for the main stadium entrance. For some reason, I thought the main entrance to the stadium was on the far side, the opposite side to the main shopping car park, so ended up 'enjoying' a walk right round the stadium. You actually go into the main complex entrance which is sort of facing M&S (not exactly opposite, but that side of the stadium then in the bottom right corner where you enter for all sorts of other things (various NHS departments, a library, a cafe, a public swimming pool, their small club shop, etc). The bloke on the desk said go to the 1st floor, follow the corridor to the end then it's box 6!! 1st floor was mainly NHS. I walked into some kind of NHS waiting room. Maybe the bloke on the desk thought it looked like that's what I needed? It was actually the 2nd floor, down a long corridor past conference rooms in use, then through a hospitality box (no. 6) out into the stadium!! So bizarre. We scored very early on so, due to the trouble finding where to go, I unfortunately missed the 1st!!

City were the better side overall, and deserved the win, but we benefitted from Wigan missing a couple of really good chances, and had the keeper (Yam) to thank for a couple of very decent saves. The defence switched off for their goal, and we had a familiar habit of gifting the opposition chances with overplaying, or careless passing, in our 3rd.

I didn't really see much evidence of Walterball in action. There wasn't the same movement as we saw (but no longer see that much) with the 1st team. It was more orthodox. We also seemed happy enough to use central midfield. Coyle (Rocco) was keen to get on the ball in almost a Seri type role (some nice touches but some careless stuff too).

For me Tinsdale was the stand out. 20 next month. V skillful player, but needs to develop further to be ready for men's football. Looks a real prospect. Brown also to a degree with his trickery & pace at times (but guilty of overdoing it and little involvement 2nd half). Vaughan looked a cut above when he came on mid-way into the 2nd half. Iggulden had a very steady game too; he has a style that isn't the easiest on the eye somehow but gave a very solid performance, does the simple things well. TSFleming was an odd one, in that he scored twice, but otherwise got hardly any joy against their defence.

Giggle of the day was the ref booking City sub Noah Wadsworth for 'timewasting' at a throw in. He wasn't timewasting, just that there wasn't much movement for him. Ref shouted "4th time". He'd only just come on a couple of minutes earlier!!

Quite enjoyed it. It's interesting watching the U21's play and taking note of those sort of on the fringes of 1st team football (be that in practice or just in people's minds). To be truly ready for the 1st team squad, you should be a bit of a stand out when playing against other U21's. Free entry and free 4 hour parking in the shopping car parks. Only 2 hours on proper match days (not for these U21 games), but you can get your ticket extended to 6 hours by the car park attendants if you spend only £5 in the shops or cafes there. £1 for a hot drink in the hospitality box (or back downstairs to pay a bit more for a proper coffee for me). Will be going again.

Thanks for the report, as far as the above, that's what good strikers do, be in the right place and score goals.

Yep. That's what I mean with 'an odd one'. I saw the Keith Edwards era (x2), being a good example of that. Nobody would likely be complaining if Pedro did the same on Saturday .... not that I was complaining in my post, just commenting that he didn't seem to achieve much other than the 2 finishes, and didn't look 1st team ready - ok, I guess you had to be there, I'm digging a hole, I'll stop :emoticon-0105-wink:

When I was posting my reply, Keith Edward's came into mind, did very little other than score a lot of goals.

The assist from Brown on that second goal was quality as well.
