Il Est Francais runs in the Grade 1 Prix La Haye Jousselin (Auteuil 2.35) - I guess his performance there will determine whether he comes to Kempton for the King George or not. €365K for the winner tomorrow - and there are 2 other Grade 1s on the card worth €175K and €223K. Not a single entry from UK or Ireland in those 3 races.

It’s barmy isnt it. UK trainers complain about prize money but have that on their doorstep. Auteuil a great day out too. Went last May to see IEF in the Grand Steeplechase. Didnt run <doh><laugh>

I’ve gone for Cracking Rhapsody ew in the Greatwood. Took 33s a few days ago and the price has tightened a little. Good winner at Kelso in the spring and has had a pipe opener. I’d love to see this decent pot go to a small yard. Good luck all.

Awful scenes at Cheltenham. I hope the winner is just exhausted and will be ok. Family day too.

Abuffalosoldier and Bangers and Cash <rose>. This game can be brutal at times.

Dysart Enos absolutely smashed off the boards. Would love to see either her or Burdett Road run away with this to give us a bit of perspective for the season.

The first 3 home in the Greatwood were clearly very well handicapped and look set for productive seasons. The runner-up may well be a County Hurdle horse. I think Dysart Enos will come on a ton for the run. Fair play to Burdett Road though - not easy for last season's juveniles stepping up into open company and he did it really well. He'll get at least 7lbs for that and is going to be difficult to place going forward.

Horrendous fatalities today, losing a horse who has been so gallant should send shock waves through the sport.

Many Clouds didn't, neither will this. It's just accepted as part of the risk - which is just way too easy for us humans to say.

Abuffalosoldier was fatality number 172 on a UK racetrack this year <rose>

That three-quarters of an hour at Cheltenham, yesterday, was truly horrific. 3 fatalities in that time was nothing but terrible. And on 'the main channel' (ITV1) in front of a more family orientated Sunday audience as well. Does make you wonder how the ITV management will view that moving forward...

Unfortunately though day 3 at the Cheltenham November meet does have a very brutal history. This was the day that sadly Simonsig was fatally injured back in '16.

Would Valgrand be another option for the stable in that heat??? Most likely to step back down in trip after his run at Cheltenham on Friday. The handicapper has dropped him 1 lb this morn (to 139) and 16's currently available re Valgrand and the County (although only 12/1 in a place).

Good spot - both worth keeping an eye on as the season progresses. I'd expect Be Aware to get a similar mark to Valgrand and unless there is a State Man lurking in the field the upper 130s seems the ideal riposte for the County Hurdle (6 of the last 12 winners were rated between 137-139). And of course we know the trainer is adept at protecting a mark :)
