    Be interesting to see
All their account says is it has been archived. It’s still there to see, just not being used.
They don’t actually have more followers than Bluesky though. They have 10m on Twitter and there’s 20m ish Bluesky users

I meant across all their accounts, I think they had quite a few, I read somewhere they had 27m followers across them all which is crazy!

You think that saying "Yep that makes sense" and being reasonable isn't the definition of being moderate? <doh>

You don't think there's a certain irony in your above comment pushing back against my suggestion of being moderate and finding middle ground with people you otherwise disagree with, by automatically disagreeing with me - someone you generally disagree with?

I know there’s been a few threats to twitter over the years that have been the ‘next big thing’ but there’s something about BlueSky that feels different.

It looks the same as old twitter and it feels like it scratches the itch of a quick scroll through that twitter used to. The biggest challenge social media companies face is making it a habit/part of people’s lives and not a novelty that is quickly forgotten about.

If BlueSky can do that and give people a reason to go there over twitter (fewer ads and less rage inducing tweets) than I think they will manage it.

At the moment - in my experience at least - it feels like it’s possible. My twitter use has been way down for months anyway but BlueSky has kept me interested for longer than the other sites that have faded like Threads.

I don't think they'll go back. In fact I think there'll be a grace period where a lot of people post on both until a critical mass has shifted over to BlueSky and then people will stop posting on Twitter altogether.

    In the right conditions, definitely.

Like most cold war kids, that sort of stuff haunted my dreams many a night.

They’ll have plenty left if they do stay off Twitter then I suppose.
Got 180k on Bluesky in a day I think.

Moving myself earlier means I’ve been accidentally fashionable for once in my life, but it will be interesting to see what big organisations do.

I came across an in depth study of Musks 153 million followers. It concluded that 78% of his followers were likely to be bots. The median number of posts by his followers is 1. :emoticon-0104-surpr:emoticon-0104-surpr

Didn't he get wound up by a post by Biden getting more likes or views than his at the Superbowl, so he demanded that the algorithm be adjusted so that his posts were more visible?

I don't post that much on Twitter and never have but have a scroll most days. Almost all of the accounts I follow are either Hull City, football, humour or the War in Ukraine related. I post the odd comment, like quite a few post and very rarely retweet.

The ads are much much more prevalent since Musk took over but what really is noticeable is the number of bots.

I've just scrolled down my followers and over 90% are clearly bots (unless I'm suddenly **** hot attractive to young scantily clad models) and another one or two seem to follow me every day.

    Here we go again
No it isn't, not at all <doh> (see, I can do that emoji too).
You actually posted ..."any free thinking individual should subscribe to views purely from the middle of any political spectrum as that by definition is the most compromised view from both sides" (not that i was specifically replying to just your post anyway, but never mind)

First off, you say a "free thinking individual should subscribe to views purely from ...". Err, how exactly does that prescribed approach work for a "free thinking individual"!!

Second, it's not about looking for "the most compromised views". Compromises are exactly that, compromises, not the best or even necessarily better. It's about getting / seeing / agreeing the best views no matter what side or what part of the scale they come from, rather than what usually happens, being the automatic rejection of views just because someone sits on the other side of the table.

The fact you can't realise/accept that we're saying the same thing underlines the fact you automatically disagree with people without processing what they're saying.

If you're seriously suggesting a reasonable person should sometimes agree with extremist views equally from each end of the spectrum I don't know what to say.

I presume big organisations will replicate/cross-post? on all popular platforms.
Been an educational thread and I'm all for evolution of social media so long as I can still access all the city related accounts I do now, I'm never one to follow the flounce of the liberal elite but normals are clearly giving bluesky a go so I'm watching this space with an open mind and tidying up my twitter with some blocking and unfollowing.

The end comes for everything.....eventually.....MSN messenger, AOL on line all those original services gone up in smoke, I don't necessarily think twitter will ever fully die, but the way BlueSky is looking there's a good chance it'll never be the same and could become a massive echo chamber, it's got past the early adopters stage now and once a few big companies / football teams etc start to move over there the rest will follow very quickly. Tbh....if City had an account on BlueSky and posted the equivalent on there, I'd prob ditch twitter.....twt

I think a lot joined Threads so are a bit more hesitant this time but I'm sure they'll move eventually.
