I've joined it purely on the basis that it's Musk-free. Twitter was bad before Musk bought it though and as Bluesky follows exactly the same model as Twitter, it will go the same way. It's the model that's flawed; hot takes and entrenched positions just leading to polarisation.
I may have a look at this. Don't do social media. As per, Bluesky has been around for 5 years but no one used it, Facebook and Instagram were the same, just needs a spark and away it goes. The Wiker Man may join.
Aye it's quite interesting how it started, funded by Twitter to develop an open protocol for decentralized social media. Had it not been for the Musk takeover it may have remained in the darkness. Decentralisation means nobody like Musk can take overall control which can only be a good thing.
If they keep it so it learns your algorithm properly so you only see things you post or follow then it will be better. X throws up that much generated ****e it's impossible to read
People are obviously free to join the website of their choice, but you just end up with two echo chambers this way.
Anyone know if its easy to deactivate and delete if you don't fancy it anymore or is it like trying to quit the gym?
Just had a look on bluesky on the web browser, you can look without signing out. Basically twitter before Brad Pitts brother Ses turned up. Could be good. I'm going to sign up and I'll put my handle in here when I do..... when I get round to it like.

I have an X account... purely so I can access links via other platforms when they're suggested as being interesting. Likewise, I have a Facebook account that I activate any time I want to see the comments on a particular car boot sale when somebody is asking if it's on today, swiftly followed by an immediate deactivate. Bluesky will be as successful at replacing X as telegram was of replacing WhatsApp. Social media is bad for you. It should be used for practical reasons only. Teams news, opening times etc.
