How can any right minded person support such an egotistical, self righteous, pompous, lying, criminal, misogynistic, homophobic, raping thug?

    But that's Americans for you.

Several weeks ago the back window in the tractor 'exploded' in my hand. Finally got a new one delivered. A few hairy moments with a rather heavy piece of glass an working with my daughters boyfriend and it was sorted.

Do you have windscreen cover on tractor insurance, like on car insurance?

    No.
    £300 for a new one.<grr>
Saying that, tractor insurance is pretty cheap.

After replacing the rear window (still need to put the handle on so it can be fixed shut), today was a mini- service for the tractor. Drained the radiator and refreshed antifreeze, then oil level, hydraulic level, brake fluid levels (they ain't great at the best of times).
Should see us through the winter.

    Absolutely lashing down in cheshireland.
Normally, being a fair weather farmer, I'd be in the house.
Unfortunately, daughter is away and there are things to be done.
Chickens were all in their stable already. No scratching about looking for worms and bugs.
The goats were a bit stressed as the 4 hebrideans that stay out in all weathers were in their stable with them.
The new pony was at the gate waiting to come in. He's the only one stabled overnight.

Even our terrier, usually one of a good run in a muddy field took to standing on a hay bale under cover.
He's in amongst the bales looking for rats rather than venturing outside.

Never mind, Mrs Remote cleaning out the chickens, so I should be home in time to watch Australia embarrass Wales in the rugby.

Funny how we all see and do things differently depending on lifestyle and circumstances - good job too. <ok>

Over the weekend, washed, waxed and sealed 3 cars - that was hard work honest :emoticon-0141-whew:.

Removed, cleaned and repaired both wing mounted side repeater indicators on the sister in laws' Yaris. They'd become a home for moss and green algae over the years. Had to seperate the lenses from the bases, clean them out and re-stick back together with Shark Tuf superglue before replacing back into the wings - job's a good un.

I've kerbed the alloys on my vehicle over the years <doh> so decided to give them a bash - not willing to pay £200 a corner for diamond re-cutting as well as the disruption of the vehicle being off the road. Water had got behind the lacquer through the scuffs and discoloured the adjacent lacquer/alloy.

Took the bad areas back using fine wire brushes on a Dremel. Masked the tyres and resprayed with clearkote acrylic lacquer. Not "recut perfect" but unless you look very closely you'd have a job to tell. It cost me a few hours of my time and less than a tenner for the lacquer.

BTW. it's been a good weekend weatherwise down here remote, but it looks a bit more bleak right now. Keep safe up there - I understand it's going to get a bit bleaker for you from tomorrow.

I'm with you on life's perspectives.
I've never been a 'conformist' and don't particularly worry what people think of me or my life choices. I don't set out to offend or shock, but do my own thing.
However, if I can subtly wind people up along the way, so much the better.
A neighbour is very precious about his cars and his house and his holidays. I've twigged that he thought much of my decisions were based on what I could afford, rather than what I was happy with.

It took him a while to work out I'd chosen to retire (he's 5 years older than me). And he hasn't mentioned cars or holidays since. He's due to retire next year. He'll be 12 years older than when I did.

I spent 30+ years sat behind a desk. I'm much happier getting mucky. Saying that, sitting behind a desk has allowed me the luxury of getting mucky.

Anyway, my alloys are scuffed to buggery and blistered all over. Given where I take the car and what I put in it, I'm not going to spend on it, or spend time on it. I spend more and do more on the tractor.<laugh>
Saying that, there's so much muck on the car, you wouldn't notice the issues with the alloys.:emoticon-0105-wink:
Good work on your part though Sparkey.

Fishing tomorrow before the weather changes.
We're in the Cheshire gap, so miss the worse of it. 15 miles east you're into the peak district. They get it far worse. You can often see snow on the hills when it's clear with us.
Sleet Tuesday and Wednesday, worse temperatures overnight at minus 3. No big issue.

Just returned from 12 days on the Algarve. Had some of the sh1tiest weather we've seen there in the last 20 years.

Our house is bloody freezing. Turned the heating for the first time this winter.

My suggestion to Mrs BfB for "extended cuddles" was not well received. Her response concerned sex and travel, just without the sex.

I'm very envious of the practical skills you guys have. I couldn't do a fraction of that. <ok>

Just looked out of the window to find cars, roofs (or is it rooves, I feel it was the latter I was taught in school) and lawns covered in snow. Our cul de sac is clear. Seems a bit wet for it to stick properly.
Dog is enjoying it. Goes out, wanders about, comes in dotted with snowflakes, then shakes and makes the utility room wet. 5 mins later, looking to go out again.

The white stuff is just starting to come down heavily here...

Hadn't realised David Coote was in town... Must be a referees convention at UWE or somewhere...

There's a place name I haven't heard for a while. Played rugby there on several occasions back in the 90s.

About 45 years after passing my 'O' level maths, I've finally had a practical use for Pythagoras' Theorem.

Daughter and Boyfriend want an enclosed muckheap built at the end of the shed.
Some second hand 'I' beam bought, along with about fifty 2nd hand railway sleepers and a dozen or so pre-loved 7' by 3' by 8'' concrete slabs for the base.

Anyway, offered to help daughter's boyfriend to lay it out.
To start, a line at 90 degrees to the shed needed to work out where the holes for the steel beams were needed.
12m of electric tape with knots at 3m and a further 4m allowed a 3, 4, 5 triangle to be created with a few electric fence posts to hold the corners in place.
Hey presto, no fancy gadgets and we were in business.

Glad I've found some use for my education.

Now, what can I find to use my 'O' level Chemistry for?
