Fortunate Son - Apocalypse Now Version 'we'll come in low out of the rising sun about a mile out we'll put the music on i use CCR it frightens the **** out of the slopes my boys love it'
Seen these a number of times from the early days, and more recently 2018 at Chester le Street Riverside, and 2022 at the Arena Usually start the show with this classic. Jim and Charlie still got it.
Junior Parker......... Mystery Train 1953 - YouTube 60 years old ffs give it up Elvis made it famous but the original yeah ,trains and blues and women
I’m learning this one to perform it on stage in the Linga Longa bar in Sanur, Bali in June next year. It’s a bucket list thing.
The original drummer has just passed away. Even though he didn’t play on this song, it’s still class.
Heard that Bowie wrote this one just to upset Mick Jagger, David Bowie like John Lennon were unique artists imo. I loved both from the get go , but even more so now and I never tire of hearing from people who crossed their paths in the 60's and 70's when they were at their peak creatively. Dig this.
Put it on in a really tough dives juke box once just to show how cool I was and pressed the wrong button and got Petula Clark instead , bit of an anti climax.
OK, here's a tough one ... quite a few things stick in my mind. With the situations in Palestine and Ukraine it shows we've, once again, made absolutely no progress. What happened in Sarajevo was disgraceful and this song reflects that very well. I struggle with Bono but can't deny he impresses me here, as do the others, it's all powerful stuff. In addition there's the perfect response for anyone who thinks 'opera' is a load of old shyte ... ... over the top of the awesome music being performed comes Pavarotti who's more than the sum of all the other parts.
Absolutely brilliant mate. The ultimate testimony to growing old, becoming lonely and 'losing' your partner to mental health issues ... ... he's Bob Dylan's favourite songwriter which says it all. 'Someday I'll go and call up Rudy' ... just do it, old friends are part of your history.
I only started listening to him since you posted a few on here Smug so I am a novice and any suggestions are welcome.
