The humiliating defeat that the pundits have been predicting fromthe beginning of the season has at last happened but I couldn't feel prouder of the lads or be in more of a hurry for the next match.

Today seemed like an experiment in what it would take to make the wheels fallm of and us to look like a pile of ****e. First, you have to play without two of your most influential midfielders. Next you lose your captain and best defender and have to replace hime with what is generally regarded as your worst player.

That didn' really seem to do it, som at half time we lose our most talented player and replace him with one of most (unfairly) reviled players.

And that still didn't do it. 3 shots against the woodwork, one goal line clearance, mountains of presure and at 85 minutes we were still in the hunt.

Then they scored a second, and to make sure we were truly buried God removed our last reognised centre back.

The final score sounds like a rout, but bring on the next lot. Can't wait

In the grand scheme of things, we won't finish higher than Chelsea nor will we be anywhere near them. We played well for a lot of that game, and they scored two late goals when we effectively had a defence of Raylor, Simpson and Perch.

I'm hugely disappointed with the scoreline, but the performance was admirable. Maybe on another day we might've scored three or four. The media will be suggesting that the wheels have fallen off the Newcastle machine, but I don't think that would be accurate. One point from two visits to Manchester and a home game with Chelsea isn't bad going for a team who've spent less on their entire squad than those three can spend on one player. Only I expected the point to come today with the other two being defeats.

Norwich, Swansea, WBA and Bolton. I'll be thoroughly disappointed if we don't get more than maybe 7 points from this lot. If we play like we did for the best part of 70 minutes today, we've got a very good chance.

Down but not out, and I'm still proud of the performance today.

Good article, pleased with the way the lads played, missing some big name players and lost a few more today unfortunaley. But very confident of the run ahead, 4 possible wins on the trot, and i don't know the teams around us fixtures but we could still be very close to 4th place come christmas.

I think I'm so disappointed and sad BECAUSE the performance was so competitive, and we had so many chances, and had so many key saves from Krul to keep us in the match

I'm gutted obviously, but honestly it has quickly worn off because: It was Chelsea - a team who are better than us and also because of the mackem thread which got instantly Griffed.

Im looking forward to seeing us playing the lower teams. They are always great games to watch , especially after the hard run of games we have just had ! Also it is now evident that we need to add two or three players in January , possibly 1 striker , 1 centerback and possibly a winger .

Understand this, and the flipmside of being proud of the performance is that it is hugely disappointing to not get anything out of the match. And Saylor and Collocinning are the players we can least afford to lose. So I understand everyone who geels down.

The reason I don't is that we demonstrated that we can lose players but we don't stop being a team.

I was but given were going to be playing our reserves at CB and Tiotes out I'm thinking those games are coming at a very bad time now.
