Same here mate, wonderful day all round but I didn't see it until the day after.

I had a ticket and a flight booked but got to Nice airport and the flight was delayed. I went to the bar to wait but it was further delayed so I had more drinks. By the time the flight was announced it meant I'd see the last 15 minutes so I had a few more drinks. When I made it home I paid for a stream, had another drink then fell into a deep sleep ...

... I woke up at 5am the next day covered in yoghurt which was surprising as I didn't have any in the house <laugh>

How would people feel if next seasons home kit was based on this? Asking for a friend. Screenshot_20241114-204321_Chrome.jpg

Surely Sunderland wouldn't base next seasons away kit on this 89/90s classic? Screenshot_20241114-205149_Google.jpg

I’m thinking that you’re trying to tell us something, but for the life of me I don’t know what.

Leeds-linked Dennis Cirkin tells of Sunderland joy after 'dark times'

    https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/s...ennis-cirkin-tells-sunderland-joy-dark-times/

    By Dominic Shaw

TWELVE months ago, frustrated Dennis Cirkin was dealing with injury uncertainty.

Having started the first five games of last season, Cirkin suffered a hamstring problem that would limit his game-time in the weeks that followed and ultimately cut short his season.

It was a year ago this week that Cirkin felt a recurrence of the problem in the warm-up ahead of Sunderland's game at Birmingham City and had to replaced in the starting XI. He wouldn't play again all season, with a decision made in January that surgery was required to get to the bottom of the problem.

How different the picture now looks for the 22-year-old. Is there a left-back in the Championship you'd rather have in your side? Probably not. He's played every minute in the league so far for Regis Le Bris' side and has been one of the shining lights for the Championship table-toppers. His form has inevitably led to some transfer speculation, with Leeds United having been heavily linked in the last week or so.

But Cirkin doesn't sound like a player in a hurry to leave the Stadium of Light. And why would he? He's playing, shining, improving. And having endured the difficult side of the game last season, he's now enjoying being fit and flourishing.

“On a personal level, sometimes I think about it and it's just surreal to me,” said Cirkin, reflecting on the comparison between this season and last.

"Going a whole season with three recurring injuries was a dark time and then looking at this season, I'm doing my best to keep fit.

“At the end of the day, I'm just enjoying it and that's the most important thing, I think, is just to enjoy it with the ups, the downs, the challenges. I think I thrive off the pressure, off the challenges."

For a footballer, there aren't many greater challenges than dealing with the frustration of missing almost an entire season.

Cirkin admits he battled a rollercoaster of emotions last season but thanked those around him who helped him through - including Sunderland's club captain Luke O'Nien.

O'Nien is a hugely important figure on the pitch for Sunderland and is just as influential behind the scenes.

Cirkin said: “I think you just find a way to cope. Especially because for me, I'm young, so I won't have any answers. I think I just learned as I went, going through highs, lows, different ways of learning

“I have very good people around me. I just want to give a big shout-out to Luke, a really good man. It goes so under the radar how much of an effect he has on the team, on the individuals, on everyone around the club.

"He's a big character in the dressing room helping everyone out."

Personally, I think revamping classics is going to get boring quickly. I'd prefer them to come up with a new design that will become a classic.

Well they’ll have run out of home kits after two seasons so there’s only so far this can go I guess

Dunno if this is the right thread, but is anyone using Bluesky? A hell of a lot less bot activity (that made most footy accounts utterly unfollowable) but not a lot of footy accounts on there yet. Roker Report, James Copley and not much else for safc thus far from what I’ve seen. Anyone got any others? Feels like it will explode in the next week or so.

Not tried it yet but the club initially started posting on Threads but not sure if they still do
I use these in my X search filter to remove most of the Bots -#iptv-#fpl
I also mute a whole load of mags who insist on adding #safc to all their posts <doh>
I also mute a few perennial whingers who claim to be lads fans <monster>

Retro and nostalgia sells mate. There have been some rancid attempts over the years.

This is true but I think once is probably enough. An updated version of the blue away kit would be nice but beyond that feels like overkill. 92 cup run aside, that 91-94 home kit didn't really coincide with the most memorable spell in our history.

I know, and I've bought as much of the Hummel retro stuff as I've had time to before it sold out. I just think it's time to look to the future.

I've just signed up to Bluesky today. It's got a pleasant vibe going which is a nice change. I'm just getting to grips with it and haven't found what Sunderland goings-on there are yet.

Reposting articles or videos on here won't be possible yet though as not606's media link button hasn't even caught up with the change from Twitter to X.
