When I tried to post the above yesterday I asked "has there ever been a better debut on TOP's as this" which disappeared . Further note :- I had seen the young Brian Ferry in local groups early doors. Then this exploded on my TV , a totally bizarre lyric which includes two of my all-time favourite films and a fabulous RnR accompaniment which reminded me of Johnny and the Hurricanes. And for anyone interested in the history of the early 60's NE music scene the "Ready Steady Gone" blog elsewhere is worth a visit.
My mate is a huge Rush fan even crosses the atlantic to see them, he never saw thee lads at their best second track on this video is unreal.
I’m something of a late bloomer when it comes to folk. Love these. The whole album is gold for the ears and have been known to play this on repeat
This one for me is mesmerising Bob Dylan said of Brian Wilson “Jesus, that ear. He should donate it to the Smithsonian. The records I used to listen to and still love, you can't make a record that sounds that way.“ I cannot understand how he goes up and down in scale in this song and it all just works
Little story for tonight. Arthur has played the north east pubs for 50 years.. Now its his..canny. WHAT’S COOKIN’ with Les Tones and Arthur Ramm former guitarists with North East band Beckett. | ALIKIVI UK : NORTH EAST CULTURE
Second time I saw Paul Kossoff playing was one night in the back room of a pub in front of a crowd of about 30 people. a few days earlier I had seen their debut in Sunderland at the Bay Hotel in front of similar numbers, I also saw their last performance at the Locarno Ballroom Sunderland, and by then of course they were all the rage and playing in front of crowds of 2,000 or more , great memories. ,
