So, after 26 years in charge, Lineker is leaving the Match of the Day presenters seat. Who would you like to see him? I asked a few others and Crouch was suggested as a light-hearted change of direction presenter. Thoughts? Who would you like to see every Saturday night for the foreseeable future?
It's absolutely nailed on to be a PC appointment in my eyes. All roads lead to Alex Scott and that'll be me turning off !
Wow...didn't expect to wake up to such apathy! Maybe it is because I live abroad, and still enjoy watching one of the few things I can easily watch online...but I still watch MOTD, and admittedly, I do skip through the 'analysis' more often than not, but still enjoy the highlights. Agree it is likely to be a PC appointment.
Please no! She's very lovely as a person I'm sure, but I agree with Digby Jones who, when she was commentating on the Olympics, tweeted out about her dropping the end of every word. Swimmin, runnin, jumpin etc. Having said that, I very rarely listen to the chat and just fast forward to the matches unless there is a controversial incident.
Good shout. Far too sensible a shout to be correct. Jeff Stelling would be great if only for a couple of years realistically. Do people actually sit down and watch ‘live’ any more? I’ll watch on a Sunday morning normally and skip through most of the analysis on whether Mo Salah’s bollock was offside and Shearer’s witty lads bantz.
I can't remember the last time I watched MOTD and only ever watch live games in the pub. VAR has ruined the game for me. Having said that, if they got Danny Baker in to tell them how much bollocks it all is, I'd watch.
I was with a couple of Leicester lads in Prague and the only place to watch the Urinals v Foxes match was an “Irish” bar. Usually we operate a ban on drinking in these places when in Europe (and in Great Britain come to that. Exceptions made for the US. And Ireland). They were showing all the games so there were loads of Newcastle, Urinal and Spurs fans in there. Nearly all were in their 20s, hungover, fat and rude to the staff. The beer was crap and 3 times more expensive than even the most touristy Czech bars. I left after one pint (was in topping up mode by then anyway) and my mates said they wished they had as well. Was meant to give the liver a rest yesterday but wandered past a pub which brewed its own beer on site so had to have a quick 3 pints in there before going to the airport. It was utterly brilliant. I don’t pay much attention on the odd occasion I see MOTD, but I used to like the bloke who fronted the Italian football on C4 in the early 90s, James something I think.
It was very moreish. Like heroin. At home I drink bitter or if there is no decent version of that available, Guinness. Never lager. But in Germany and Eastern Europe the lager/pilsner actually has flavour and is much less gassy than the crap we have. Plus I find the dunkel and wiessbier too heavy.
