Garr died in Los Angeles on Tuesday after a 20-year battle with multiple sclerosis "surrounded by family and friends", her publicist Heidi Schaeffer said in a statement. She first talked publicly about the chronic autoimmune disease in 2002 to raise awareness for others living with it. The comedy actor faced other health problems and underwent an operation to repair an aneurysm in 2007, BBC's US news partner CBS reports. Garr got her start as a background dancer in Elvis Presley movies. Her mother, also a former dancer, put her in dance classes at the age of six. Her first gig was joining the road company for West Side Story in Los Angeles. She then began dancing in movies before starring in television shows like Batman and Dr. Kildare. Garr's big break came in 1974 when she played a supporting role in the thriller, The Conversation. She was then cast as Gene Wilder's lab assistant in the horror comedy Young Frankenstein where she spoke with a German accent. This was a career breakthrough for Garr. She established herself as a comedy actor and began making frequent appearances on Late Night with David Letterman. Beyond comedy, Garr also played dramatic roles in Close Encounters of the Third Kind and The Black Stallion. She also appeared in television shows such as Star Trek and That Girl.

She had been receiving palliative care after living for a number of years with ovarian cancer, which forced her to cancel her 'Why Is She Still Here?' tour in September. Ms Godley was perhaps best known for her viral dubbed videos of Nicola Sturgeon's Covid briefings during the pandemic and her protest against Donald Trump's 2016 visit to Scotland. Her daughter Ashley Storrie thanked Ms Godley's "found family" for their support "throughout these last horrible days".

So sorry for your loss, it would appear that Boo Bear was a wonderful faithful companion. Earlier in the year we stayed in Fort Pierce, Florida for 5 weeks and the owners had a similar labrador retriever named Riley (a female) who hung out with us around the large bungalow, always sitting with us when playing Canasta, leaning against my leg, even joining us in the swimming pool, which made re-entry to the home somewhat awkward. Riley was only 7 but looked 14 as was overweight and rarely walked, which we did on occasion. Riley had been adopted a year earlier from an older gentleman who could no longer take care of her. Almost made you want a get a dog!
I have taken annual leave twice this year and the first day of both I have had the terrible job of taking cats to the vet to eventually be put down Rip Scotty and Spencer Anyway the dog is hoping I don't use any more leave at Christmas
For anyone who has never had a family pet it might seem strange, but it really does feel like losing a member of the family. Sorry for your loss Hoop.
