Most true Saints supporters have a backbone or are too polite to protest!

The pay over 10 DD interest free is also a credit agreement. Yes, stop paying and they will revoke your ticket, but they may also come at you for the full amount and screw up your credit rating.

Can't use club cash on away games. Only megastore and home tickets. Can also use it towards a season ticket but only if buying outright and not if doing a DD.

Might be able to use on away travel too actually. Basically it's only on things where the money actually goes to the club.

I personally think the floated protest ideas are ludicrous.

I do think SR should be looking to replace Martin currentky. However in our current situation we are not an attractive proposition. It is perfectly likely there is no one suitable lined up, in that scenario I’d rather have Martin in charge than no one. I’d also rather him than be forced into a panic hire because we sacked him with no replacement plan.

As for the message it sends, it’s not a great advert of ourselves to a prospective new manager, a fan base that will turn on you if they get a bit restless, given you’d be coming into probably the weakest squad in the league (certainly weakest 3)

Finally there must be consideration of the job Martin has done. He did manage to heal a hurting dressing room on arrival. He did get promotion. He was hired to play a certain brand of football and has stuck to his beliefs, it’s the job he was given to do. I believe he goes out every week and does his best and doesn’t deserve people directly protesting at him for that (it’s SR your message is for, not RM or the players if you’re so desperate to make a scene). For me this is very different to Nathan Jones who alienated himself to the squad and the fans and deserved all the flack he got. RM I think is out of his depth a little and struggling a lot, but if he’s there in the dugout I’ll support him and the team in hope rather than expectation and if he’s replaced I’ll be excited for the next chapter. No in-game protests from me

    I agree.

If I pass Nathan Jones in the street I’d probably get arrested.

If I pass Russ, I’d probably pass back behind him, then to the side, then the other side, then probably shake his hand.

That would have meant RM had eaten his humble pie, set up Saints to play to their strengths and go on to win the league! Lol

Moyes was on the overlap podcast this week and talking about how modern managers are wedded to styles in the face of reality. This is us, this is our style of play and the panel was unanimously agreeing that its a weakness. Moyes thinks you need to set up for the opponent at times and then wrighty mentions southampton. No surprise, we are the poster boys for the problem. It seems its an endemic issue in the league at the moment, the lack of overlapping fullbacks, slow buildup, lack of crosses but we are obviously the worst in the league at the particular style (if you think winning games is important).

I think its a balance. Losing every game, not scoring but having 80% possession doesnt make you a good manager, ever, anywhere, because the table is the the test. However, it does indicate a decent foundation. I don't want Martin sacked but I do want him to change. He needs a slap and a head wobble and someone needs to tell him that It. Is. Not. Working. Do something else FFS. Unfortunately I have come to believe that he has no other way of playing because he has only ever invested into one particular style so I'm not optimistic, regardless of how much I want him to be better.

IF the fans decided to make a point one simple protest would be to wait until the teams come out of the tunnel onto the pitch and then turn their backs on the pitch until the game started. No vocal protest, just stand in silence, BUT then get fully behind the team after kick off.
On Sky that would look quite impressive and would send a message that would, in all probability, be ignored by the board.
As things stand we are still just 4 points off 17th and 8 points off 14th, so I imagine the board will continue to give him the chance to turn it around.
I also think that given the quality of our squad, any manager interested in taking over, and prepared to manage in the Championship, would rather wait until we are so far adrift that they can’t be blamed for relegation.

I think your final paragraph hits the nail on the head and may be why we're struggling to find anyone if rumours are true.

I can see us sticking with him to around Christmas when we'll most likely still be in single figure points and well adrift.

Though it largely depends on the stadium atmosphere imo.

We must still have those white handkerchiefs we were waving about when Adkins was sacked. That really sent a message

If he has no other way of playing he has to go. A slap won’t do anything.

The only thing that will bring humility is sacking and him dropping back down to championship level. I don’t even think relegation will make him change.

Well, I’m mischievous, what did you expect <laugh>

I defo wouldn’t be keeping him. I may be a harsh bugger, and I shiver to think what Spider-Man would say about me, but I absolutely would have sacked him after Wembley.

RM seems to put in a lot of effort, but I do think he is too pally with a lot of the players.
The playing style reflects his personality in that it’s quite laid back

His relationship with the players and his personality are probably unconscious contributors to our biggest weakness as I see it, ruthlessness.

We should have won more games last season or at least more comfortably, but instead of blitzing teams whilst on top and going for 2 or 3 goal lead we favored slowing the game down and essentially draining the clock down, if it wasn’t for our wonderful ability to hit the self destruct button in matches and then suddenly have to hunt for last minute winners/equalisers, we would have had an even duller season.

Now we don’t have the ability to breakdown well organised and individually strong premier league defenses with our meandering passing style, we’re just left with the self destruct button.
